376 results about "Hypopigmentation" patented technology

Hypopigmentation is characterized specifically as an area of skin becoming lighter than the baseline skin color, but not completely devoid of pigment. This is not to be confused with depigmentation, which is characterized as the absence of all pigment. It is caused by melanocyte or melanin depletion, or a decrease in the amino acid tyrosine, which is used by melanocytes to make melanin. Some common genetic causes include mutations in the tyrosinase gene or OCA2 gene. As melanin pigments tend to be in the skin, eye, and hair, these are the commonly affected areas in those with hypopigmentation.

Method for producing a permanent or nearly permanent skin image, design or tattoo by freezing the skin

This invention provides a relatively fast and safe method of producing a permanent or nearly permanent skin image, design, or tattoo similar in appearance to that of a solar tattoo. A protective design template is placed on the skin and a cryogenic agent applied to freeze exposed portions of the skin, producing hypopigmentation. An image is defined by the contrast between the treated (hypopigmented) skin and the adjacent untreated skin.

Reduced Pigmentation Microalgae Strains and Products Therefrom

The invention provides unique and novel strains of microalgae that have been subjected to non-transgenic methods of mutation sufficient to reduce the coloration of biomass produced by the strains. Biomass produced from such strains can be used in the manufacture of baked goods, gluten free foods, beverages, high lipid algal flours, and other foods. Pigments such as carotenoids and chlorophyll can be undesirable for consumer acceptance when incorporated into foods such as mayonnaise, yogurt, and white sauces that are not traditionally associated with colors such as yellow, red, orange and green. Some pigments, such as chlorophyll, can also create undesirable taste profiles. Use of reduced pigment microalgal biomass expands the range of food products that can be manufactured with healthy lipid profiles. High protein containing biomass of the invention, also reduced in pigmentation, is also incorporated into products such as meat analogues, nutritional bars and meal replacement beverages. The reduced pigmentation microalgae also allow for incorporation of higher amounts of biomass into certain food products that could otherwise be achieved using highly pigmented microalgal biomass. Methods of generating novel reduced pigment microalgae are disclosed herein. The strains provided by the invention are also useful in the manufacture of healthy, neutral colored extracted triglyceride oils.

The invention discloses a rhodiola crenulata eye cream with whitening and anti-wrinkle effects. The rhodiola crenulata eye cream is mainly prepared from rhodiola crenulata root extract, black tea extract, coix seed extract, honeysuckle flower extract and corresponding adjuvants. Rhodiola crenulata can nourish and moisturize skin and keep constant moisture and elasticity of the skin and has anti-oxidation and whitening functions. Known from Compendium of Materia Medica, coix seeds have the functions of 'nourishing facial appearance and keeping youth', whitening and removing freckles, contracting pores, excreting water and slimming bodies. Black tea can moisturize skin, promote blood circulation and activate cells. Honeysuckle flower, also named lonicera japonica, can improve the water keeping capability of the skin and form a natural water keeping screen. The rhodiola crenulata eye cream is prepared from rhodiola crenulata serving as 'monarch', coix seeds serving as 'minister', black tea serving as 'assistant' and honeysuckle flower serving as 'guide' under the support of adjuvants. The rhodiola crenulata eye cream can promote skin metabolism, enhance skin activity, reduce epidermal pigmentation and resist against oxidation and removing oxygen free radicals; and the rhodiola crenulata eye cream is fine and smooth, has certain whitening, moisturizing and anti-wrinkle effects andprevents generation of thin wrinkles near eyes.

Method and apparatus for dermatological hypopigmentation

Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure provide method and apparatus for effecting (e.g., lightening) an appearance of skin by cooling or freezing small separated surface regions of the skin to produce regions of local hypopigmentation. The width of the regions can be, for example, smaller than about 1 mm or 0.5 mm, and a distance between these frozen regions can be greater than about 3 times the width of the regions. An exemplary apparatus can be provided that includes a plurality of spatially-separated thermally conductive arrangements that can be affixed or otherwise coupled to a base. For example, the conductive arrangements can be regions of conductive material provided in or proximal to a thermal insulator, or thermally conductive protrusions affixed to the base.; The conductive arrangements can be cooled and then contacted with the skin surface to produce the small regions of hypopigmentation.
