Retaining wall

Disclosed is an economical and effective way of producing a modular retaining wall, using only blocks which in and of themselves are of insufficient thickness to function as retaining wall blocks. The modular wall includes backer blocks and facing blocks which are connected by connectors in a back to back, spaced apart arrangement, thereby forming a hollow retaining wall. The hollow wall can be filled with loose filler material to increase the mass and retaining capacity of the wall. Further disclosed are wall components and a wall kit for a modular retaining wall. A double sided decorative wall is also disclosed. The modular wall system allows for the construction of retaining walls and freestanding, double sided, decorative walls forming both straight and curved walls.

Electrostatic precipitator pre-filter for electrohydrodynamic fluid mover

Electrostatic precipitation is performed upstream of collector electrode surfaces toward which a downstream EHD fluid mover accelerates fluid flow. In this way, the upstream electrostatic precipitator (ESP) acts as a pre-filter (with low flow-impedance) and can reduce accumulation of otherwise detrimental materials on downstream electrodes and / or arcing. In some cases, pre-filtering by an upstream electrostatic precipitator may also reduce accumulation of otherwise detrimental materials on downstream heat transfer surfaces and / or ozone catalytic or reactive surfaces / materials. In some embodiments, an EHD fluid mover with an ESP pre-filter is used in a thermal management system to dissipate heat generated by a thermal source.

Electromagnetic radiation absorber

An electromagnetic radiation absorber for absorbing radiation in the wavelength range λmin to λmax. The absorber has a conductor layer in contact with a dielectric layer. The conductor layer carries a plurality of apertures of sub-wavelength dimension and the thickness of the absorber is less than λmin / 4n, where n is the refractive index of the dielectric. The dielectric layer may be sandwiched between two conductor layers, one of which has the structure described above. The invention is also directed to various articles comprising such an absorber.

In a liquid crystal display (LCD) device, an LED PCB with the reflection layer formed on surface thereof is installed at an upper side of the LED array and a reflection plate extends such that it sufficiently covers the lower portion of the LED array to thus make light emitted from the light source incident to its maximum level, thus coping with the reduction in the quantity of light resulting from making the LCD device thinner. The LCD device includes: a liquid crystal panel; an LED array supplying light to the liquid crystal panel; a light guide plate installed in a direction in which the LED outputs light, and guiding light; a reflection plate formed between the LED array and a lower portion of a lower cover; and an LED PCB attached to an upper portion of the lower cover at an upper side of the LED array and having a reflection layer formed at a side facing the light guide plate. Because an existing LED housing reflector is removed, a cost and processing time can be reduced and an assembling process is simplified to improve a defective rate and production yield.

High frequency time-division multi-phase power converter

A high frequency time-division multi-phase power converter includes a power source, a switching circuit, a first resonant tank, a coreless transformer, a second resonant tank, an output rectifier circuit, an output load circuit and a control circuit. The switching circuit includes a first half bridge circuit and a second half bridge circuit connected in parallel. The first resonant tank includes a first resonant inductor, a first resonant capacitor and a first magnetizing inductor. The coreless transformer includes a primary side coil and a secondary side coil. The second resonant tank includes a second resonant capacitor and a second resonant inductor. The control circuit controls the switching circuit to be switched between multiple switching states, and ON states in a switching cycle of the first upper bridge switch, the first lower bridge switch, the second upper bridge switch, and the second lower bridge switch are mutually exclusive.
