A sound suppressor for a firearm comprises a cylindrical housing having a rear end cap attached to the housing and having means for mounting to the muzzle of a firearm, a front end cap attached to the housing and having a centrally positioned aperture, and at least one baffle element positioned within the housing between the rear end cap and front end cap. The baffle element comprises a flat plate with an integral rearward-protruding cone with the cone having an entrance aperture and an exit aperture, with the cone having an elongated aperture that extends from the entrance aperture toward the flat plate. An initial coaxial spacer element is positioned between the rear end cap and the baffle element, with the initial coaxial spacer element having at least one gas port and at least one notch at an edge of the initial coaxial spacer element. Inner and outer expansion chambers are formed between the rear end cap, the initial coaxial spacer element and the baffle element. A coaxial spacer element is positioned between the front end cap and the baffle element, and the coaxial spacer element has at least one gas port and at least one notch at an edge of the coaxial spacer element. Inner and outer expansion chambers are formed between the baffle element, the coaxial spacer element and the front end cap.

The present invention relates to a silencer for reducing muzzle blast and noise of firearms or similar devices. The present silencer has a hollow cylindrical or other shape casing comprising front and rear end caps and an opening aligned along a longitudinal axis defining a passage for a projectile and propellant gases to emerge from the muzzle opening. A plurality of serially placed baffles of symmetrical or slanted orientation and intervening coaxial spacers are positioned within the casing and define a multitude of chambers among the baffles, spacers, and outer housing. The baffles shear propellant gases away from the projectile path and through openings or ports into additional chambers formed between the spacers and outer housing. The arrangement of baffles and spacers provides flow-impeding paths, dispersion, and controlled expansion of gases and lowers gas temperature to reduce audible noise and observable signature of the muzzle blast.

A firearm noise suppressor having an internal base frame member with a plurality of inserts mounted thereto. In one form the suppressor is provided with a slip chamber allowing gas to be forwarded to a longitudinally forward chamber for pre-compression of gas therein.

In one example, a firearm sound suppressor includes a housing including a front end and a rear end. The rear end includes a flange that partially encloses the rear end and defines a rear aperture. The firearm sound suppressor also includes a back end member disposed substantially within the rear end of the housing and including a rear surface disposed in abutment with an inner surface of the flange to prevent the back end member from passing through the rear aperture. A firearm barrel accessory that quick connects and disconnects to a firearm barrel by rotating is described. The accessory may be a firearm suppressor with a silencer barrel, a mount retention ring located inside the silencer barrel that includes longitudinal grooves that lead to circumferential grooves that have a first radial side and a second radial side. The firearm barrel is attached to a muzzle break that may include a plurality of lugs that fit into longitudinal grooves. After placement in the longitudinal grooves, the silencer barrel and mount retention ring are rotated/twisted about the silencer barrel longitudinal axis so that the circumferential grooves move relative to the lugs until the lugs contact the second radial side, at which point the mount retention ring ceases to rotate while the silencer barrel continues to rotate. A ratchet retention ring may exert tension on the mount retention ring in the rearward direction.

A flash hider, a sound suppressor and a quick-disconnect coupler that holds the sound suppressor to a flash hider is disclosed. The quick-disconnect coupler enables the suppressor to be attached to the flash hider so that the hider forms a nozzle at the entrance to the sound suppressor to facilitate the operation of the suppressor. The coupler includes a collar that threads to the first part of the suppressor over plural holes formed therein. Camming latches set in these holes are held firmly against flat surfaces on the exterior of the flash hider by the collar. A spring lock holds the collar against rotation until it is released.

An improved muzzle brake, attached to the end of a rifle barrel reducing the recoil of the rifle includes an internally threaded attaching end, engaging outer threads of a rifle barrel, a flattened projectile end, with an overall increasing taper from the attaching end to the projectile end, a flat upper surface which does not impede the sight line of the rifle, a flat lower surface, and two lateral surfaces including a first lateral oval vent, a second lateral oval vent and a third lateral oval vent, the first lateral vent defining a first flat brake plate having a first central bore, the second lateral oval vent defining a second flat brake plate having a second central bore and the third lateral oval vent defining a third flat brake plate having a third central bore penetrating through the projectile end, wherein a bullet fired from the rifle travels through the attaching end, the first central bore, second central bore and third central bore, while the gasses generated by the fired projectile are deflected laterally by the first flat brake plate, second flat brake plate and third flat brake plate, forcing the rifle forward, reducing the recoil force of the fired rifle.

A baffle for use in a sound suppressor for a firearm utilizing proximal and distal faces with at least one joining wall positioned between the proximal and distal faces, and forming two expansion chambers between the proximal and distal faces. The joining wall has a bore hole and at least one opening in the wall itself and at least one opening from the bore hole into at least one of the expansion chambers positioned between the proximal and distal faces of the baffle. The joining wall may be either curvilinear, curvilinear stepped, planar or angled in shape. Openings are provided on the proximal face and the distal face of the baffle. At least one face of the baffle is either flat, curvilinear, curvilinear stepped, or asymmetrical to the axis of the baffle.

A blow-back operating automatic firearm has a sliding mass carried with its bolt carrier assembly to increase the dwell time of the bolt at the breech when the bolt is in battery position for firing. The sliding mass reduces the tendency of the bolt to bounce-off the head end of the seated cartridge, thereby reducing the risk that a misfiring will occur.

Flash suppressors having novel expansion features are disclosed. In one embodiment, a suppressor apparatus includes an attachment portion adapted to attach to a gun barrel, and a suppressor portion coupled to the attachment portion. The suppressor portion has a suppressor bore therethrough that is adapted to be aligned with a longitudinal axis of the gun barrel to allow a projectile from the gun barrel to pass therethrough. The suppressor bore is defined by at least one bore surface having at least one expansion groove disposed therein. The expansion groove may be partially-circumferentially disposed about the suppressor bore, or may include a plurality of expansion grooves. In another embodiment, a flash apparatus includes a suppressor portion having a plurality of longitudinally elongated members spaced apart about a circumference of the suppressor bore, each elongated member being separated from adjacent elongated members by a longitudinal slot, at least one longitudinal slot having non-parallel sidewalls.

A muzzle brake for a gun which comprises an annular member mountable on the firing end of the muzzle of the gun, which member comprises a pair of concentrically located annular elements of which the first one is mounted stationary relative to the muzzle of the gun and the second one is slidably movable against the biasing action of a spring relative to said first element in a direction opposite the firing direction of the gun, said movement taking place under the influence of the exhaust gas resulting from the firing of a projectile by the gun, and said movement being from a first extreme position into which said spring forces said second element, in which position the brake is in the "off' position, to a second extreme position where the brake is in the fully "on' position, in which position said exhaust gas can force the first element, and hence the muzzle of the gun, to move in the firing direction, and so counteract the recoil action of the gun.

A booster apparatus that is to be used with an autoloading handgun is provided. The proposed novel device utilizes a piston with five spokes which are secured against rotational movement by interfacing with five of ten indexing notches that are machined on the stopping flange of the booster housing. There are ten indexing notches provided which allows for ten positions of orientation for the silencer in relation to the bore of the host firearm. Unnecessary rotational movement is prevented by the indexing notches which are robust and secure the piston in place. This device when utilized with a handgun silencer will facilitate the proper semi automatic function of the host firearm.
