66 results about "Automatic firearm" patented technology

An automatic firearm continuously fires rounds as long as the trigger is pressed or held and there is ammunition in the magazine/chamber. In contrast, a semi-automatic firearm fires one round with each individual trigger-pull.

Firearm modification assembly

An assembly for modifying an automatic firearm such as a carbine rifle to relocate operation of the firearm charge handle. The assembly includes a fore-grip bracket, a drive rod movable in the foregrip bracket and attached to the charging handle release lever, and a cocking handle attached to the drive rod, the rod being attached to the charge handle for alternately releasing and latching the charge handle for clearing the firearm. In one embodiment, the foregrip bracket is attached to a removable rail attached to the foregrip by a jaw type device. Another embodiment attaches to the foregrip by attaching the foregrip bracket by screws. Another embodiment attaches to a foregrip having no rail by means of a groove cut in the grip, having a pair of spaced apertures into which hooks of foregrip mount, the bracket being held in place by a rod receiver and rotatable latch.

Ambidextrous magazine catch for firearms

The present invention relates to a retaining and release mechanism for the magazines of automatic and / or semi-automatic firearms, in particular to a type of magazine which is provided with a lateral securing slot. A tooth (52) of lever (54) is designed to engage lateral securing slot (34) of magazine (30). Said lever (54) is pivotally connected to a shaft (36), located transversely in body (16) of the firearm, by means of a pin (58) and attached at its opposite end to an operating push button (44). A lever seat (60) of said lever (54) is urged towards said body (16) of the firearm and firmly abuts a seat (50) of a magazine catch slot (28) by energy exerted through a spring (42) against said operating push button (44) and a spring cavity (74). The tooth (52) can be disengaged from lateral securing slot (34) by depressing either operating push button (44) or a depression extension (66) of said lever (54). The magazine (30) can thus be released from both sides of the rifle.

Bolt carrier and bolt for gas operated firearms

An improved bolt and bolt carrier with integral gas key having an extension nozzle threadedly secured and pinned to the gas key for use with a direct gas operated firearm is provided. The extension nozzle is designed to receive a portion of the host firearms gas operating system. The firing pin retaining pin is oriented so as to expose its widest profile to the firing pins annular flange, increasing its service life. The bolt has a plurality of lugs extending from its forward end and an extractor recess. The extractor recess is constructed to accommodate an enlarged extractor claw while not undercutting the bolt lugs adjacent thereto. The extractor engages approximately 57% more of a seated ammunition cartridges rim as compared to some prior art AR15 / M16 type extractors used with automatic firearms chambered in 6.8 SPC. The result is an improved bolt and bolt carrier which provides for increased operational reliability.

Back-up electric power generator for electronic components attached to automatic firearms

A firearm improvement taking the form of a mechanical dynamo installed in an automatic firearm. Several components either replace certain parts of the firearm or are added to the firearm. In conjunction with the operation of the firearm, the components generate electric energy which is then stored in a capacitor, battery, or other element for the storage of electric energy, or supply power to a battery recharging unit attached to the firearm. The electric energy contained in the storage component, or used to recharge the batteries placed in the recharging unit, may be used at a later time as a back-up power supply for electronic components attached to or incorporated into the firearm, such as red-dot or reflex sights, laser sighting equipment, or night vision equipment.

Automatic and semi-automatic firearms of remarkably reduced mass yet capable of long-range accuracy because of unique recoil reduction are characterized by (A) a temporary combination of a barrel, an integral breech and a separable chamber that in operation of the firearm is moved by a compressed spring distally before and while a chambered cartridge is fired, (B) run-out of such temporary operative combination diminishes firearm recoil, (C) recoil of the temporary operative combination recompresses the spring and (D) the separable chamber is loaded with a round while spatially separated from the breech and barrel.

The present invention is a gas system for a firearm comprising a hollow gas tube extending between a forward gas tap in a firearm's barrel and a rearward piston assembly to impinge upon and operate the firearm's bolt operating system. The system does not have a translation rod extending between the two components as in prior art systems nor does it have a rearward tap like others. As such, it balances cleanliness and weight reduction of the prior art systems and reduces moving parts.

Rebound attenuation device for automatic firearms

A blow-back operating automatic firearm has a sliding mass carried with its bolt carrier assembly to increase the dwell time of the bolt at the breech when the bolt is in battery position for firing. The sliding mass reduces the tendency of the bolt to bounce-off the head end of the seated cartridge, thereby reducing the risk that a misfiring will occur.

Firearm single-shot bolt catch assembly and method of operation

A firearm single-shot bolt catch assembly and method of operation. The automatic firearm single-shot bolt catch assembly uses a tensioned spring that operates with a bolt catch. The tension from the spring works to pivotally articulate a plate in the bolt catch to a catch position, which restricts the recoiling bolt carrier group in linear path of the firearm. The tension from the spring presses the plate upwardly into the linear path to restrict the passage of, and hold, the bolt carrier group towards the rearward end of the firearm. This restriction of movement inhibits automated recoiling responses from the bolt carrier group, consequently creating a single-shot mode by disabling automated firing sequence of the firearm. Applying force to a lever that forms in the bolt catch overcomes the spring bias to displace the plate out of the linear path followed by the bolt carrier.

Feedback-controlled re-targeting apparatus for automatic firearm

An apparatus having a body that attaches to a barrel of a firearm and a chamber disposed in the body that receives combustion gases from the barrel during a firing sequence of the firearm. Sensors, mounted on the body, capture a measurement of an initial line-of-sight to a target prior to the firing sequence and measure deviation from the initial line-of-sight after capture of the measurement of the initial line-of-sight and during the firing sequence. Ports, in communication with the chamber, are controllable to vary discharge of the combustion gases from the chamber. A feedback control unit receives the measurement of the initial line-of-sight and the deviation from the sensors and controls the ports to vary discharge of the combustion gases from the chamber during the firing sequence to generate forces on the barrel to drive the deviation to a minimum.

Self cleaning trigger control connector & connector

A self cleaning trigger stop connector & trigger connector for semi-automatic firearms that have an enclosed striker assembly. Incorporated into firearms without any structural changes, the trigger stop connector is designed to increase firing speed and prevent a fulcrum effect caused when a trigger mechanism travels a distance beyond the point of firing of the firearm, thus increasing target precision when discharging the firearm, a hole designed to self clean the trigger stop connector or trigger connector and trigger bar during operation, lessen the trigger pull weight and act as a reservoir for lubricants to increase reliability of the pistol. The single tab trigger stop connector, replacing a multiple leg or common non trigger stop connector, is designed with a specific contact point to prevent over travel of the trigger bar when operating in cooperation with the trigger of the firearm.

Firing Rate Reduction System for an Automatic Firearm

The present invention is a firing rate reduction system utilizing a slideable, independent sear disconnector. A straight channel, terminating at the rear end of the bolt carrier, for disconnector movement is created in the bolt carrier. Detents are provided to arrest movement at foreword and rearward limits. The force of inertia moves the independent disconnector into these extreme positions and creates a delay in firing time as additional time is required for the independent disconnector to reach final position.
