Ladar Pulse Deconfliction Method

Disclosed herein are a number of example embodiments that employ controllable delays between successive ladar pulses in order to discriminate between “own” ladar pulse reflections and “interfering” ladar pulses reflections by a receiver. Example embodiments include designs where a sparse delay sum circuit is used at the receiver and where a funnel filter is used at the receiver. Also, disclosed are techniques for selecting codes to use for the controllable delays as well as techniques for identifying and tracking interfering ladar pulses and their corresponding delay codes. The use of a ladar system with pulse deconfliction is also disclosed as part of an optical data communication system.

Image recognition system, image recognition method, and machine readable medium storing thereon an image recognition program

There is provided an image recognition system which recognizes a subject, which is moving with respect to an image capturing unit, included in an image captured by the image capturing unit, comprising: the image capturing unit; a first recognition unit which recognizes a candidate of the subject included in the image captured by the image capturing unit by comparing the image captured by the image capturing unit with predetermined template data; a template selection unit which selects the template data to be compared with an image captured by the image capturing unit after a predetermined duration has been elapsed from a time of capturing an image used for recognition of the candidate by the recognition unit; and a second recognition unit which recognizes the subject by comparing the image, which is captured by the image capturing unit after a predetermined duration has been elapsed from a time of capturing an image used for recognition of the candidate by the first recognition unit, with the template data selected by the template selection unit.

Method to show a concentration of a contrast agent in a predetermined volume segment by means of tomosynthesis, and corresponding tomosynthesis apparatus

In an imaging method and a tomosynthesis apparatus, a two-dimensional low-energy image of the predetermined volume segment is obtained after administration of a contrast agent, followed by a two-dimensional high-energy image and then a high-energy tomosynthesis of the predetermined volume segment is obtained with a high total radiation dose that is significantly higher than the low radiation dose. The two-dimensional low-energy image is subtracted from the two-dimensional high-energy image to generate a result with which the concentration of the contrast agent is visible. Additionally, in a time interval in which an enrichment or a washing-out of the contrast agent occurs within the predetermined volume segment, a tomosynthesis of the predetermined volume segment is automatically implemented to show the concentration of the contrast agent in the predetermined volume segment.

Inkjet printing fluid

An inkjet printing fluid composition including water and a water dispersible polyurethane additive of the general formula of (I)wherein Z is the central portion of a monomer unit that is the polymerization product of a diisocyanate; X1—Y1—X1 represents one or more soft segments wherein Y1 represents the central portion of a unit that is the polymerization product of a diamine or diol prepolymer having a molecular weight of greater than 300 Daltons; W is the central portion of one or more units containing an acid group; X2—Y2—X2 represents one or more hard segments wherein Y2 represents the central portion of a unit that is the polymerization product of a C2-C8 diol or diamine having a molecular weight of less than 250 Daltons; and X1, V and X2 can be the same or different and are an —O— or —N— atom; and further wherein the polyurethane additive has a weight average molecular weight of at least 6,000 Daltons and a sufficient number of acid groups to provide an acid number greater than 35, and the one or more X2—Y2—X2 hard segments are present at from 1 wt % to less than 13 wt % of the polyurethane additive. Also disclosed is a method for printing an inkjet image including I) providing an inkjet printing fluid according to the invention; and II) jetting the inkjet printing fluid in the form of ink drops onto a recording element to form a printed image.

Infinitely variable-speed transmission

An infinitely variable-speed transmission for use in the power train of a motor vehicle has two rotary sheaves and an endless flexible element trained over the sheaves to transmit torque from the flanges of one of the sheaves to the flanges of the other sheave when the one sheave is driven by the prime mover of the vehicle. The flanges have exposed conical surfaces which are frictionally engaged by the exposed end surfaces of pintles forming part of the flexible element when the latter transmits torque. The flanges are hardened, cushioned, roughened and / or otherwise treated at their exposed surfaces to promote the ability of the sheaves to eliminate or reduce noise on contact with the pintles, to stand long periods of use without extensive wear, and / or to transmit pronounced and variable torques.
