Sensor failure or abnormality detecting system incorporated in a physical or dynamic quantity detecting apparatus

A reference voltage generating circuit is constituted by resistors RE and RF each having a resistance not influenced by an application of pressure. The reference voltage generating circuit is connected between one and the other ends of a bridge circuit. A failure judgement of the bridge circuit is performed based on a comparison of a voltage difference VBC between two midpoints B and C of the bridge circuit and voltage differences VCE and VBE between a reference voltage level of the reference voltage generating circuit and the voltage levels of two midpoints B and C.

Detecting failure of layer 2 service using broadcast messages

Some embodiments provide a method for detecting a failure of a layer 2 (L2) bump-in-the-wire service at a device. In some embodiments, the device sends heartbeat signals to a second device connected to L2 service nodes in order to detect failure of the L2 service (e.g., a failure of all the service nodes). In some embodiments, the heartbeat signals are unidirectional heartbeat signals (e.g., a unidirectional bidirectional-forwarding-detection (BFD) session) sent from each device to the other. The heartbeat signals, in some embodiments, use a broadcast MAC address in order to reach the current active L2 service node in the case of a failover (i.e., an active service node failing and a standby service node becoming the new active service node). The unidirectional heartbeat signals are also used, in some embodiments, to decrease the time between a failover and data messages being forwarded to the new active service node.

Semiconductor integrated circuit and evaluation method of wiring in the same

An input circuit writes an expected value to one end of an evaluation wiring. A latch circuit latches a logic level of the other end of the evaluation wiring. A first switch circuit connects an output of the input circuit to the input of the latch circuit. A second switch circuit connects the output of the input circuit to the one end of the evaluation wiring. A third switch circuit connects the other end of the evaluation wiring to the input of the latch circuit. By turning on, off, and off the first to third switch circuits, respectively, the output of the input circuit is directly connected to only the input of the latch circuit. In this state, the input circuit writes an expected value, and a logic level is read from the latch circuit. Accordingly, failure of the evaluation wiring can be easily discriminated from other failure.

Convertible rotary seal for progressing cavity pump drivehead

A convertible rotary seal has a housing for receiving a polish rod. A mandrel is rotatably mounted in the seal housing and surrounds the polish rod. A wear sleeve surrounding the mandrel engages a primary seal. A secondary seal engages the mandrel and polish rod and rotates therewith but may be converted for use as a static seal if necessary. A locking mechanism selectively secures the mandrel in a stationary orientation with respect to the seal housing. Fluid that leaks past the primary seal will be detectible through an external orifice. If a leak in the primary seal is detected via the external port, then the mandrel may be secured in a stationary orientation with respect to the housing and the secondary seal may be reconfigured to operate as a stationary seal until such time as the rotary sealing unit can be overhauled.
