Method and apparatus for forwarding packets

An internetworking system operating over an ATM backbone. The physical internetworking devices within the system are shared to provide the internetworking functions while servicing two or more distinct and isolated user networks. This is accomplished by logically partitioning the devices into distinct sub-elements which provide all or part of the internetworking functions. These sub-elements are uniquely allocated to independent realms which are then assigned to specific user networks.

The first terminal has a first terminal payment module configured according to the payment specification and a first terminal electronic merchandise module configured according to the electronic merchandise infrastructure and coupled to the first terminal payment module to permit transfer of non-payment e-merchandise related information from the first terminal electronic merchandise module to the first terminal payment module. The interrogation of the electronic device is performed by the first terminal payment module. Generation of non-payment e-merchandise related information by the first terminal electronic merchandise module is facilitated. Transfer of the non-payment e-merchandise related information from the first terminal electronic merchandise module to the electronic device via the first terminal payment module, within a transaction between the electronic device and the first terminal payment module that is conducted in accordance with the payment specification, is also facilitated. The non-payment e-merchandise related information is stored on the electronic device in accordance with the payment specification. The electronic device and the first terminal independently calculate a summary data item. The first terminal calculates a first message authentication code based on the non-payment e-merchandise related information and a terminal-calculated value of the summary data item. The non-payment e-merchandise related information is stored on the electronic device together with an electronic device-calculated value of the summary data item and the first message authentication code.

Gastric retentive oral dosage form with restricted drug release in the lower gastrointestinal tract

Controlled release oral dosage forms are provided for the continuous, sustained administration of a pharmacologically active agent to the upper gastrointestinal tract of a patient in whom the fed mode as been induced. The majority of the agent is delivered, on an extended release basis, to the stomach, duodenum and upper regions of the small intestine, with drug delivery in the lower gastrointestinal tract and colon substantially restricted. The dosage form comprises a matrix of a biocompatible, hydrophilic, erodible polymer with an active agent incorporated therein, wherein the polymer is one that both swells in the presence of water and gradually erodes over a time period of hours, with swelling and erosion commencing upon contact with gastric fluid, and drug release rate primarily controlled by erosion rate.

Distributed message engines and systems

Systems and methods that facilitate messaging capabilities within a unified plant model (UPM) via employing a plurality of message engines that collaborate in such system. Linkage can be provided among the plurality of message engines, to provide real time interaction among the message engines / services, wherein each message engine normalizes messaging of various messaging protocols and formats. Also various systems of the UPM can map thereto—and provide a consistent interface where events are sent / received consistently across the system.

Wrist articulation prosthesis and set of elements allowing building of this prosthesis

InactiveUS20050171613A1Simplify inventory managementRestores anatomical movementWrist jointsAnkle jointsSacroiliac jointEngineering
The prosthesis includes a main element wherein one part forms an articulation side, an element called the “radial” element and an intermediate sliding element. The articulation side that delimits the part of the main element is convex and presents a round form. The intermediate element forms a concave articulation side appropriate for cooperating with the convex articulation side that forms the main element, this concave articulation side presenting, in sectional view in the sagittal plane, that is in the plane in which the flexion and extension movement of the wrist takes place, a rounded circle form very slightly larger than that of the convex articulation side, and presenting, in sectional view in the frontal plane, that is in the plane in which the abduction and adduction of the hand takes place, a rounded circle form markedly larger than that of the convex articulation side.

Mobile communications network, infrastructure equipment and method

A mobile communications network, which may include base stations, is configured to communicate data packets with communications terminals. A core network, which may include a mobility manager, communicates data packets with base stations. A first base station may be configured to receive a short message data packet from a communications terminal, identify the communications terminal, to determine, from the short message data packet an indication of the first base station to which the communications terminal is attached, and to store an indication of the first base station through which the short message data packet was sent in association with an identifier of the communications terminal. The mobile communications network may be configured to identify that the communications terminal has changed attachment to a second base station, and to send the down link data packet to the second base station for communication to the communications terminal.

Remote control of a switching node in a stack of switching nodes

A methods and apparatus for remote management of switching network nodes in a stack via in-band messaging are presented. Switching nodes in the stack default to reserved switching node identifiers and stacking ports default to a blocking state upon startup, restart, and reset. Each command frame received via a blocking state is forwarded to a command engine at each switching node and is acknowledged with the current switching node identifier. Each acknowledgement frame bearing the reserved network node identifier triggers configuration of the acknowledging switching node. Switching nodes and the management processor track interrupt state vectors regarding events. An interrupt acknowledgement process is employed to track raised interrupts. Configuration of switching node is performed via command frames transmitted by the management processor and destined to a command engine associated with the switching node. Services provided by the management processor are requested via control frames destined to the switching node to which the management processor is attached and destined to the management port thereof. The advantages are derived from engineered switching node deployments wherein an appropriate number of management processors, less than the number of switching nodes in the stack, are employed to provide services to corresponding switching nodes in the stack, based on processing, control, and configuration bandwidth requirements. The in-band configuration and control of the switching nodes in the stack reduce deployment, configuration, management, and maintenance overheads.

Method and system for controlling the multicast source

The present invention provides a multicast source control method, which comprises: creating multicast source authentication information; a management platform of the multicast source authentication information dynamically updating said multicast source authentication information in accordance with restriction on multicast source; controlling multicast message sent from the multicast source in accordance with said multicast source authentication information. The present invention also provides a multicast source control system comprising a master multicast source authentication server, a group of slave multicast source authentication servers, and a predefined node. With the present invention, multicast sources can be performed a control management at the earliest time through initiating authentication requests for multicast sources by the predefined node; the network terminal resources are saved through deploying hierarchical distributed multicast source authentication servers to manage different multicast address fields; without manual intervention, the master and slave multicast source authentication servers interact for authentication information periodically and in real time, such that automatic and real time management of multicast sources can be implemented; and thereby the object of reducing management and maintenance cost as well as improving manageability and operability of the multicast network is attained.
