Correction of memory effect errors in force-based touch panel systems

A method and system are provided to correct one or more sensor signals having errors induced by a viscoelastic effect. The errors may be characterized using a combination of linear or non linear functions. The characterization of the errors may be used to reduce the errors from the sensor signals. In one aspect of the invention, the errors associated with a viscoelastic effect are reduced from the sensor signals by filtering the sensor signals, scaling the output of the filter circuit to produce correction factors and subtracting the correction factors from the sensor signals. Corrected sensor signals may be used to determine the location of a touch on a touch screen with improved accuracy.

Method for reducing printing position error and image forming apparatus using the same

An apparatus and method are provided for reducing a printing position error, in which the method includes the steps of (a) driving an encoder wheel as many times as a predetermined number of forward counts at a predetermined initial acceleration, thereby making the edge of a printing paper become separated from a sensing unit and conveyed in a forward direction, (b) driving the encoder wheel at the predetermined initial acceleration and conveying the printing paper in a backward direction, (c) calculating a difference value between the number of backward counts of the encoder wheel from a start time of the backward driving to a point when the sensing unit detects the edge of the printing paper and the number of forward counts, and (d) repeating the steps (a) through (c) for a designated number of times while varying the predetermined initial acceleration, and setting an initial acceleration corresponding to a smallest value among the difference values as the initial acceleration for driving the encoder wheel. Therefore, in the case of separately printing data on one printing paper several times, the resolution of a printed image can be improved by reducing the printing position error.

A method is provided of compensating for periodic non-uniformity in an electrophotographic (EP) printer with a rotatable imaging component, and a runout sensor for measuring the distance between a first reference point and the surface of the first component along a first reference axis. An image signal representing an image to be produced on a receiving member by the printer is received. The component is rotated. While it is rotating, the distance for the component is measured using the runout sensor. A correction value corresponding to the measured distance is automatically determined using a processor. The image data corresponding to the measured distance are automatically adjusted with the correction value using the processor. Toner corresponding to the adjusted image data is deposited on the receiver using the component.
