The invention relates to a drive control method for a range-extended electric vehicle. The method is characterized in that whether an engine is required to participate in working or not is determined according to the target mileage of a driver and the working condition average speed at a power consumption stage. When the target mileage is greater than a mileage threshold and the working condition average speed is greater than an average speed threshold, the engine is required to participate in working; otherwise, the vehicle runs in a pure electric mode all the time. When the engine is required to participate in working, the engine only works when the whole vehicle is required to enter an economic zone, and electrical energy is not actively supplied. At the power consumption stage, a gear is determined according to the driving capability and the working efficiency of a driving motor at the first and second gears. At a power maintaining stage, tandem operation is realized when a power system runs at a low speed, and parallel operation is realized when a power system runs at a high speed; and at the power maintaining stage, the working gear is determined according to the requirement of the engine in a high-efficiency zone. With the adoption of the method, efficient use of energy of the whole vehicle is realized, the driving mileage of the whole vehicle is improved, the running working condition adaptability of the whole vehicle is improved, and efficient work of the engine is realized.
