Energy delivery systems and uses thereof

The present invention relates to comprehensive systems, devices and methods for delivering energy to tissue for a wide variety of applications, including medical procedures (e.g., tissue ablation, resection, cautery, vascular thrombosis, treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and dysrhythmias, electrosurgery, tissue harvest, etc.). In certain embodiments, systems, devices, and methods are provided for delivering energy to difficult to access tissue regions (e.g. peripheral lung tissues), and / or reducing the amount of undesired heat given off during energy delivery.

Borrowing threads as a form of load balancing in a multiprocessor data processing system

A method and system in a multiprocessor data processing system (MDPS) that enable efficient load balancing between a first processor with idle processor cycles in a first MCM (multi-chip module) and a second busy processor in a second MCM, without significant degradation to the thread's execution efficiency when allocated to the idle processor cycles. A load balancing algorithm is provided that supports both stealing and borrowing of threads across MCMs. An idle processor is allowed to “borrow” a thread from a busy processor in another memory domain (i.e., across MCMs). The thread is borrowed for a single dispatch cycle at a time. When the dispatch cycle is completed, the thread is released back to its parent processor. No change in the memory allocation of the borrowed thread occurs during the dispatch cycle.

Channel management method in time and wavelength division multiplexing-passive optical network (TWDM-pon)

The invention presents the channel management technology in a Time and Wavelength Division Multiplexing-Passive Optical network (TWDM-PON). According to an exemplary embodiment, the channel management technology is a wavelength management method for an Optical Network Unit (ONU) having a tunable receiver in the TWDM-PON in which a service is provided through multiple channels, the wavelength management method including: setting a wavelength of the tunable receiver as a first channel to receive a physical synchronization signal from an Optical Line Terminal (OLT); extracting either or both service utilization information and service operator information from the physical synchronization signal; and based on either or both of the service utilization information and the service operator information, determining whether to perform follow-up procedures for activation via the first channel or whether to change the wavelength of the tunable receiver into a second channel.

Method and apparatus for optimizing the combustion air system in a recovery boiler

A method and an apparatus for optimizing the combustion air system in a power boiler or chemical recovery boiler by improving fluid flow and gas mixing are disclosed, whereby one can increase boiler capacity and combustion uniformity and reduce particulate and gaseous emissions. The method involves interlacing of the secondary and, where applicable, the tertiary air supply through opposing air ports on all four walls of the boiler, and is implemented by alternately opening wide or partially closing a port damper on one side, while partially closing or opening wide a port damper on the opposite side, such that a 70-100% open damper on one side opposes a partially closed (10-40% open) damper on the other and vice versa in an alternating fashion, along opposing walls. In a preferred embodiment, the optimization is further enhanced by balancing primary air flow, achieved by adjusting port dampers and windbox pressures so that the primary air flow is evenly distributed between opposite walls, between all four walls of the boiler and between individual airports on each wall. Windbox pressure and other key measurements of boiler operation ensure proper balancing and an adequate interlacing of air flows at the primary, secondary and tertiary elevations, respectively.
