The present invention facilitates the specification and distribution of templated content materials by a content provider over an information exchange network such as the Internet. The present invention incorporates a system for managing inventories of graphical elements and their relationships to pre-defined page templates. A database capable of keeping track of users and their corresponding access privileges within the system is employed to monitor user activity. Ultimately, through the use of a software component delivered over the Internet for use within standard web browsers, end-users are able to populate templates under the constraints imposed by the rules of the manufacturers at the time of template design. These population elements which “fill in the blanks” of the pre-defined templates may be either of type IMAGE or TEXT. Image regions are populated by choosing from a subset of the entire image inventory, while TEXT types can be completely free form, with specific rules guiding justification, point size, font, and leading, or “fill in the blank” form with the same constraint rules as free form. Once the end user has met all of the criteria for a fully populated template, the system provides sophisticated means for downloading a high resolution file (such as a print-ready file or other file representation of the composed publication) which encapsulates all resources needed (layout, images, fonts, and constraint geometries) to fulfill the requirements of the publication. The downloaded file may be printed or published by electronic transfer, e.g., to a publisher for printing of the actual publication.

Method for erasure coding data across a plurality of data stores in a network

An efficient method to apply an erasure encoding and decoding scheme across dispersed data stores that receive constant updates. A data store is a persistent memory for storing a data block. Such data stores include, without limitation, a group of disks, a group of disk arrays, or the like. An encoding process applies a sequencing method to assign a sequence number to each data and checksum block as they are modified and updated onto their data stores. The method preferably uses the sequence number to identify data set consistency. The sequencing method allows for self-healing of each individual data store, and it maintains data consistency and correctness within a data block and among a group of data blocks. The inventive technique can be applied on many forms of distributed persistent data stores to provide failure resiliency and to maintain data consistency and correctness.

Backup management method

Restoration of all virtual machines are managed in respect of each restoration time thereof in a case where virtual machines at certain time in the past are restored under a server virtualization environment in which a plurality of virtual machines are constituted. A host computer creates a first snapshot of a first virtual machine at a first time specified by a management computer, and stores the first snapshot in a first logical volume of a storage device. Next, the storage system replicates in a second logical volume the first logical volume. In a case where the host computer creates a second snapshot of a second virtual machine at a second time that is before the first time and stores the second snapshot in the first logical volume, the management computer manages or displays the second snapshot creation time and snapshot information in association with the first snapshot creation time and snapshot information, respectively.

Base Station and Cellular Wireless Communication System

A femtocell base station collects the terminal distribution within the cell and selects terminals to represent the cell-center and the cell-edge from among the terminals within the cell. The femtocell base station also calculates maximum transmit power for the respective the cell-center and cell-edge terminals allowable by the macrocell base station. The femtocell base station sets the respective transmit power of the cell-center and the cell-edge in a range that will not exceed the maximum transmit power, adjusts the transmit power control parameter to allow control by the terminal at the power value that was set, and notifies the terminal. Communication with high throughput can in this way be attained for terminals in cells within the femtocell base station during uplink communications to the femtocell base station, and interference applied to the terminals in the macrocell base station can be suppressed.

Automatic geometrical and mechanical analyzing method and system for tubular structures

A method and system for analyzing tubular structures, such as vascular bodies, with respect to their geometrical properties and mechanical loading conditions is disclosed. To this end, geometrical and structural models of vascular bodies are generated from standard sets of image data. The method or system works automatically and the tubular structure is analyzed within clinical relevant times by users without engineering background. Most critical in that sense is the integration of novel volume meshing and 3D segmentation techniques. The derived geometrical and structural models distinguish between structural relevant types of tissue, e.g., for abdominal aortic aneurysms the vessel wall and the intra-luminal thrombus are considered separately. The structural investigation of the vascular body is based on a detailed nonlinear Finite Element analysis. Here, the derived geometrical model, in-vivo boundary / loading conditions and finite deformation constitutive descriptions of the vascular tissues render the structural biomechanical problem. Different visualization concepts are provided and allow an efficient and detailed investigation of the derived geometrical and mechanical data. In addition, this information is pooled and statistical properties, derived from it, can be used to analyze vascular bodies of interest.
