Methods and compositions for forming aperiodic patterned copolymer films

The present invention provides improved and compositions methods for replicating substrate patterns including patterns containing irregular features. The methods of the invention involve depositing block copolymer materials on a patterned substrate and ordering components in the material to replicate the pattern. In some embodiments, ordering is facilitated through the use of blends of the copolymer material and / or configuring substrate patterns so that regions of the substrate pattern interact in a highly preferential manner with at least one of the components in the copolymer material. The invention also provides compositions containing a substrate pattern with irregular features replicated in a block copolymer material.

Method and system to enhance dynamic range conversion useable with CMOS three-dimensional imaging

High dynamic range brightness information is acquired by inputting detection current to a high (adjustable) gain resettable integrator whose output V(t) is compared to a Vth threshold by a comparator whose output is counted by a reset counter as V(t).gtoreq.Vth. When a desired count is attained, data acquisition ends, the counter is read, and the entire circuit is reset. A TOF data acquisition circuit includes first and second sequences of series-coupled delay units, and a like number of latch units coupled between respective delay units. A phase discriminator compares output from each chain and feedback a signal to one of the chains and to a comparator and can equalize delay through each chain. A control voltage is coupled to the remaining chain to affect through-propagation delay time. The latch units can capture the precise time when V(t).gtoreq.Vth. Successive measurement approximation can enhance TOF resolution.

System and method for replicating files in a computer network

ActiveUS20050177603A1Facilitate substantially real-time synchronizationEfficient use ofError detection/correctionSpecial data processing applicationsReal-time dataTerm memory
A system and method for performing real-time replication of data across a network is provided. A mirroring engine receives a write request from a host application operating on a source computer. The mirroring engine compares data in the write request with corresponding data stored in memory. If data in the write request differs from stored data, the mirroring engine processes the write request. Processing involves computing a data signature across data in the write request and associating the signature with a transaction number and a status byte. The transaction number is used to uniquely identify the data signature and can be used to ensure that the signature is properly handled if it is received, for example, out of order. The status byte contains information used for handling the data signature and transaction number as well as information identifying how the data signature was computed. In an embodiment, the status byte may contain a bit for identifying if the data signature was computed across an entire block of data or if the signature was computed over only a portion of a data block, such as for example, only data bytes that have changed as compared with those in the stored data. Processing may further include compressing and encrypting the data signature, transaction number and status byte prior to transmission over a network. Embodiments may further employ a meta-file for storing data signatures, transaction numbers, status bytes, and other information useful for performing real-time data replication over a network.

Spinal interbody fusion device and method

InactiveUS20050027359A1Resist translationalResist rotational movementInternal osteosythesisBone implantSpinal columnBending of plates
A disc replacement spinal interbody fusion device is provided having a central sleeve with oppositely left and right-hand threaded axial bores with different diameters. Circumferential threaded apertures are located on the sleeve and open into the sleeve bores. The device has two opposing plates which are oval-shaped and centrally, axially bored. Each plate has a perpendicular shaft with an axial bore which communicates with the shaft bore. The first shaft has external left-hand threads and the second shaft has external right-hand threads, each to mate with different bores of the sleeve. The outside diameter of the first shaft is smaller than the inside diameter of the second shaft, allowing the two shafts to axially engage. The spinal interbody fusion device operates like a turnbuckle, vertically expanding when the sleeve is rotated in one direction and retracting when the sleeve is rotated in the opposite direction. The assembled device defines an open channel axially. Once the fusion device is set at its proper height, set screws are threaded into circumferential apertures of the sleeve to compress against the shaft threads of each plate to maintain a fixed height. In situ, axial loading of the spinal column upon the fusion device creates a bending moment manifested by a flexing action of the plates to generate opposing axial directional forces which replicate the physiological function of shock absorption, load bearing and load transmission.

Composite image generating system, overlaying condition determining method, image processing apparatus, and image processing program

A mark which at least reflects or radiates invisible light of predetermined wavelength other than visible light is added in a space of the real world. A camera apparatus comprises image capturing means for capturing a real image in which an invisible-light image may be discriminating. An image processing apparatus, comprises: mark discriminating means for discriminating at least one condition of a position of image of mark in the captured real image, a orientation of the mark, and a distance from the mark to the image capturing means, and overlaying condition determining means for determining, in correspondence with the discriminated condition, a overlaying condition which is at least one of an overlaying position which is a position of the image of the virtual object overlaid on the captured real image in the real image, an orientation of the virtual object which the age of the virtual object indicates, and a distance from a view point of viewer, of the image of the virtual object.

Amplification of denatured and stabilized nucleic acids

Disclosed are compositions and a method for amplification of nucleic acid sequences of interest. The disclosed method generally involves replication of a target sequence such that, during replication, the replicated strands are displaced from the target sequence by strand displacement replication of another replicated strand. In one form of the disclosed method, the target sample is not subjected to denaturing conditions. It was discovered that the target nucleic acids, genomic DNA, for example, need not be denatured for efficient multiple displacement amplification. The primers used can be hexamer primers. The primers can also each contain at least one modified nucleotide such that the primers are nuclease resistant. The primers can also each contain at least one modified nucleotide such that the melting temperature of the primer is altered relative to a primer of the same sequence without the modified nucleotide(s). The DNA polymerase can be φ29 DNA polymerase.
