Ruminant animals are herbivores with a complex stomach called a rumen. Some examples of ruminant animals are cattle, sheep, goats, buffalo, deer, elk, giraffes and camels. One of the most significant features of the ruminant digestive system is the presence of a complex stomach with four compartments. They are rumen, reticulum, omasum, and abomasum.

High protein corn product production and use

The present invention relates to the production of a highly digestible, high protein product (high protein distillers dried grains or high protein DDG) from corn endosperm, and more particularly to a method for the recovery of high protein DDG by using: (i) dehulling and degermination to isolate a low fat, low fiber corn endosperm fraction, (ii) enzymatic hydrolysis to solubilize and alcoholic fermentation to assimilate the starch and non-starch carbohydrates present in the corn endosperm, and (iii) filtration and / or centrifugation to recover the dealcoholized insoluble solids that remain after fermentation of the corn endosperm. The present invention provides an alternative to the traditional dry mill method of processing corn to produce ethanol, and results in the production and recovery of a distillers' by-product (high protein DDG) with increased value and range of use as an ingredient in feeds for farm-raised ruminants and non-ruminants and pet foods. The product of the present invention contains less than about 2.0 weight percent starch, from about 55.0 to about 65.0 weight percent protein, from about 4.5 to about 7.5 weight percent fat, from about 3.0 to about 5.0 weight percent crude fiber, and from about 78.0 to about 90.0 percent total digestible nutrients, and improves the palatability and digestibility of animal feeds and / or pet foods into which it is incorporated, and aids in the management of the health and weight gain of the animal.

Method for producing complex micro-ecological preparation with microbial agents and enzyme

The invention discloses a method for producing a complex micro-ecological preparation with microbial agents and enzyme. According to the action principles and characteristics of every microbial strain, the method adopts scientific combination and adds enzyme preparations and acidifier to enable microorganisms in the product to grow rapidly and take dominance in fermented feed and animal bodies so as to reduce the growth opportunity of miscellaneous bacteria. The preparation comprises the following components: bacillus subtilis, lactobacillus plantarum, candida utilis yeast, lactobacillus acidophilus, protease, amylase, cellulase, xylanase, mannanase, galactosidase, pectinase and citric acid. As all strains of the product adopt liquid deep fermentation culture, the non-polluting property of the product is guaranteed. Liquid microbial agents ensure that the number of bacterial colonies of the product is more than 100 million and the product is free from the pollution of other miscellaneous bacteria, while solid microbial agents ensure that the number of bacterial colonies of the product is more than 1 billion and the proportion of miscellaneous bacteria to effective bacteria is not more than 0.0001. The preparation contains bacillus, lactic acid bacteria and yeast, can apply to the processes of making green-yellow storage feed, fermenting feed, soaking feed, and the like, can be directly added to feed for feeding, and can improve the growth performance of ruminant animals, poultry, pigs, aquatic products and special animals.

Food supplement and use thereof for elevating levels of essential fatty acids in livestock and products therefrom

This invention describes feed supplement, and processes which increase the amount of essential fatty acids in the milk, eggs, meat and other by-products from animals including dairy cattle, beef cattle, goats and poultry. The food supplement described herein includes specific fish meal, fish oil, algae or plant dietary supplements combined with a natural ingredient / coating mixture, which can be either talc, clay or combinations; or mixtures of talc or clay with flax sprout powder to achieve enhanced levels of the essential fatty acids in the milk, eggs, meat and processed livestock products from animals fed this dietary supplement. In ruminants, the natural ingredient / coating mixture prevents microbial degradation of the essential fatty acids in the rumen stomach of the animals fed with this composition, thus providing more of the essential fatty acids to the animal, for their use. This in turn results in improved concentrations in the milk, meat and processed products from these animals. Poultry fed with this food supplement also have a higher concentration of essential fatty acids in their eggs and meat.

Method for the development of ruminant feed formulations

A method that accounts for environmental factors by measuring the starch and fiber degradation characteristics of a variety of genetically different crop plants and grain from crop plants in real time to determine how the crop plants should be conserved, processed and blended into a feed formulation that results in optimum productivity of the ruminant animal. A method further including determining starch digestibility characteristics of a set of crop plant samples comprising grain of said crop plant; developing a prediction equation based on said starch digestibility characteristics, obtaining a grain sample from a crop plant, determining in real time starch digestibility characteristics by NIRS of said sample by inputting data from said NIRS into said equation, storing and / or milling said grain on an identity preserved basis, and determining the amount of said crop plant to incorporate into a feed formulation based on the starch digestibility characteristics.

Breeding method of feeding non-protective amino acid to early-weaning lambs, feedstuff and preparation method thereof

The invention relates to a breeding method of feeding non-protective amino acid to early-weaning lambs, feedstuff and a preparation method thereof. The breeding method is realized in a way as follows: starting to feed the non-protective amino acid feedstuff for early-weaning lambs to the lambs after early weaning. The invention changes the traditional concept and breeding method for early-weaninglambs without consideration on the amino acid nutrients. The method of feeding non-protective amino acid to early-weaning lambs can greatly (about 20%) enhance the growth rate of early-weaning fat lambs, and obviously increase the daily gain, carcass weight, meat weight, lean meat weight and lean meat percentage of lambs, thereby proving that the method of directly feeding non-protective amino acid to early-weaning lambs is a simple and effective breeding method for enhancing the lamb productivity. The invention is not only suitable for lambs, but also suitable for oxen, deer, camels and other young ruminant animals.
