97 results about "Physical stress" patented technology

Physical Stress. The most common and under treated form of physical stress comes from a longstanding condition or overuse, both of which are also known as chronic stress. The accumulation of sitting with bad posture daily or conditions such as arthritis, create a stress on the body that can be just as harmful as any injury.

System and method for cytological analysis by raman spectroscopic imaging

InactiveUS20070178067A1Superior resolution and intensitySensitive assessmentBiocideGenetic material ingredientsBiological StressData set
A method and system of differentially manipulating cells where the cells, suspended in a fluid, are irradiated with substantially monochromatic light. A Raman data set is obtained from the irradiated cells and where the data set is characteristic of a disease status. The data set is assessed to identify diseased cells. A Raman chemical image of the irradiated cells is also obtained. Based on the assessment and the Raman chemical image, the fluid in which the cells are suspended is differentially manipulated. The diseased cells are directed to a first location and other non-diseased cells are directed to a second location as part of the differential manipulation. The diseased cells may be treated with a physical stress, a chemical stress, and a biological stress and then returned to a patient from whom the diseased cells were obtained prior to the irradiation.

Component carrier

The present invention is a surface mount component carrier comprised of a disk of insulating material having at least two apertures. The disk is substantially covered by a metalized ground surface and includes at least two conductive pads surrounding the apertures, and insulating bands which surround each conductive pad. The insulating bands separate and electrically isolates the conductive pads from the metalized ground surface. A surface mount component, such as a differential and common mode filter, is positioned lengthwise between the two conductive pads and operably coupled to the carrier. Once the surface mount component is coupled to the carrier, the combination can be manipulated, either manually or through various types of automated equipment, without subjecting the surface mount component to mechanical and physical stresses normally associated with the handling of miniature components. The carrier also provides the added benefit of improved shielding from electromagnetic interference and over voltage dissipation due to the surface area of the metalized ground surface. The same concept for the above described carrier is also incorporated into several alternate embodiments, either independently or embedded within electronic connectors.

Method of using transient faults to verify the security of a cryptosystem

A useful method of verifying the integrity of a cryptosystem involves using erroneous outputs to obtain secret information. In certain signature schemes which use the Chinese Remainder Theorem, a correct signature of a message and an erroneous signature of the same message permit the modulus to be easily obtained. If the content of the message is known, such cryptosystems may be cracked with only an erroneous signature of the message. Certain other authorization schemes may be cracked by analyzing a number of erroneous outputs caused by a particular type of error called a “register fault.” A security expert or cryptosystem designer may intentionally induce a tamper proof device generate a faulty computation by subjecting the device, such as a smart card, to physical stress, such as certain types of radiation, atypical voltage levels, or a higher clock rate than the device was designed to accommodate. Cryptosystems should be impervious to the attacks described herein. If not, the system should be modified or discarded.

Methods and Compositions for Vein Harvest and Autografting

The leading cause of graft failure is the subsequent development of intimal hyperplasia, which represents a response to injury that is thought to involve smooth muscle proliferation, migration, phenotypic modulation, and extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition. Surgical techniques typically employed for vein harvest—stretching the vein, placing the vein in low pH, solutions, and the use of toxic surgical skin markers—are shown here to cause injury. The invention therefore provides for non-toxic surgical markers than also protect against stretch-induced loss of functional viability, along with other additives. Devices and compositions for reducing physical stress or protecting from the effects flowing therefrom, also are provided.

Machine and process for personal, side mounted biomechanically engineered lifting device; a means of lifting awkward and heavy loads

The side-mounted, biomechanically designed lifting device maximizes the lifting capability of human anatomy. A harness with a shoulder pad crosses the user's body diagonally. The load is supported by an adjustable load strap at the user's side from a support ring attached to the harness. One end of the support strap is attached to the harness and the other to a lifting handle. With this device and method heavy and awkward loads like plywood and drywall may be carried and manipulated easily. The side-mounted lifting harness causes the user to lean away from the load. This transfers the weight of a load to a point near the ground, below the vertical center of gravity of the user and between the lifter's feet. There is significant biomechanical advantage to this load configuration. One person can carry heavy, awkward loads safely and quickly with a minimum of physical stress.
