84 results about "Marine mammal" patented technology

Marine mammals are aquatic mammals that rely on the ocean and other marine ecosystems for their existence. They include animals such as seals, whales, manatees, sea otters and polar bears. They do not represent a distinct taxon or systematic grouping, and are unified only by their reliance on the marine environment for feeding.

Sonar system and method providing low probability of impact on marine mammals

Low probability of marine impact (LPMMI) sound signals have a modulation component selected to reduce a behavioral response from a marine mammal from that which would occur when transmitting another sound signal having approximately the same time duration component, approximately the same bandwidth component, and approximately the same center frequency component as the LPMMI waveform but having a modulation component comprising a frequency modulation.

Method for constructing biologic corridors for the transferring of the small ferine mammal in subtropical cities

The present invention belongs to the field of garden technology, and is especially method of constructing biological passage way for small wild mammal to migrate in subtropical city. The biological passage way is one 15-20 m wide green belt in symmetrical structure with dense outside and sparse inside. It consists of two marginal belts of dense complex mixed forest in 5-6 m width, one middle core belt of sparse small tree in 1-2 width, and two buffering belts between each of the marginal belts and the core belt of sparse shrub in 2-3 width. Constructing biological passage way for small wild mammal to migrate in subtropical city can raise the biodiversity and promote ecological balance in city.

The invention relates to a halobios specimen making technique, concretely a method for making specimens of large marine mammals and fishes, peeling off skin of a sample between corium layer and subcutaneous fat layer, soaking with alcohol and processing with sodium carbonate, processing with arsenic trioxide, soap and camphor, and processing the seam with unsaturated polyester putty. And it overcomes oil overflowing, and keeps original appearance of the sample, having very high economic and social benefits.

Low frequency acoustic deterrent system and method

The disclosed embodiments provide an acoustic deterrent system and a method for repelling sea mammals from a region of water. The system consists of one or more acoustic impulse sources spatially distributed underwater around the perimeter of the fish farm or other region to be protected. Each source is capable of generating an acoustic signal and a controller determines the firing time for each source to produce signals, which may include precisely timed wave trains of superimposed tones on a broadband low frequency signal, which are believed most effective in deterring seals, sea lions and other carnivorous mammals. The system may further include a sensing device to determine the presence of marine mammals so that the acoustic deterrent can be initiated on demand.

Method for degreasing hides of large marine mammals

The invention relates to technologies for manufacturing large marine mammal skinned specimens and discloses a novel method for degreasing hides of large marine mammals, such as whales. The method comprises the steps of soaking, degreasing, liming, deliming, softening, pickling, tanning and retanning. According to the method, a degreasing operation runs through a whole hide tanning process; and adipose tissues can be removed from the hides greatly, a tanning agent is used for replacing soluble protein in skin and undertakes a medium of a connection structure, the stability of a collagen structure is improved, and the shrinkage temperature and hydrothermal resisting stability are improved, so that the aims of no oil spill corruption, no contraction distortion, long-term storage and healthy exhibition are achieved.

Method for preparing non-human mammal with iGb3S gene knockout and applications

The invention relates to the field of preparing gene knockout animal models, and particularly relates to a method for preparing a non-human mammal with iGb3S gene knockout and applications. The method includes: separating an iGb3S gene from genome DNA, amplifying through a long-chain RCR method to obtain a homologous arm, compositing with an antibiotic resistance gene to construct a targeting vector, transferring the targeting vector into an embryonic cell, injecting the recombinant embryonic cell into a surrogate animal embryo, transplanting the embryo into a pseudopregnancy animal, mating with an normal animal, subjecting the obtained chimera animals to genotype verification, screening the chimera animal with positive gene knockout and success gene knockout, further mating with wild type animals to obtain F1 heterozygotes, mating the F1 heterozygotes to obtain a homozygote animal with both two chromosomes being deleted, and establishing to obtain a gene knockout animal population.

Self-powered, self-propelled computer grid with loop topology

An energy-harvesting compute grid includes computing assemblies that cooperate with mobile energy harvesters configured to be deployed on a body of water. The plurality of energy harvesters are positioned on and move adjacent to an upper surface of a body of water, and the locations of the energy harvesters can be monitored and controlled. The wide-spread gathering by the harvesters of environmental data within that geospatial area permits the forecasting of environmental factors, the discovery of advantageous energy-harvesting opportunities, the observation and tracking of hazardous objects and conditions, the efficient distribution of data and / or tasks to and between the harvesters included in the compute grid, the efficient execution of logistical operations to support, upgrade, maintain, and repair the cluster, and the opportunity to execute data-gathering across an area much larger than that afforded by an individual harvester (e.g., radio astronomy, 3D tracking of and recording of the communication patterns of marine mammals, etc.). The computational tasks can be shared and distributed among a compute grid implemented in part by a collection of individual floating self-propelled energy harvesters thereby providing many benefits related to cost and efficiency that are unavailable to relatively isolated energy harvesters, and likewise unavailable to terrestrial compute grids of the prior art.

Marine animal and human pathogenic bacteria-bacteriolysis vibrion gene diagnostic reagent kit and detecting method

The invention provides a gene diagnosing reagent box and the detecting method of sea marine lives (such as shrimp, fish and so on) and human pathogenic bacterium-vibrio alginolyticus. There agent box and the detecting method are designed using a pair of primer as main body of vibrio alginolyticus gene protected area series design. It uses poly enzyme chain reaction (PCR) technology to carry on qualitative detection to the special DNA piece of the sea marine product and human pathogenic bacterium-vibrio, the method is quick, and the singularity is excellent, the sensitivity is high; it can be applied to the bacterium tracing and detecting to the sea marine product in each period, it also can be applied to the clinic detection of human intestinal canal acute contagion, and the environment detection and so on.
