Neuro-behavioral test method for screening and evaluating therapy for ADHD and system

A new neuro-behavioral test with analysis algorithms has been developed for use in screening individuals for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and for the quantitative evaluation of ADHD medication / therapy in diagnosed patients. This technique combines a 15 minute auditory-based test of attention with simultaneous EEG monitoring by a wireless, portable data acquisition device. This system acquires both behavioral response (i.e., reaction times to target stimuli, as well as errors of omission / commission) and EEG waveforms. All of the data is simultaneously processed by the algorithms to produce several representative indices. These indices are then combined to produce an overall neuro-behavioral index that represents the degree by which both “behavioral” and “EEG” attention is maintained throughout the test.

An eye movement-based methodology and assessment tool may be used to quantify many aspects of human dynamic visual processing using a relatively simple and short oculomotor task, noninvasive video-based eye tracking, and validated oculometric analysis techniques. By examining the eye movement responses to a task including a radially-organized appropriately randomized sequence of Rashbass-like step-ramp pursuit-tracking trials, distinct performance measurements may be generated that may be associated with, for example, pursuit initiation (e.g., latency and open-loop pursuit acceleration), steady-state tracking (e.g., gain, catch-up saccade amplitude, and the proportion of the steady-state response consisting of smooth movement), direction tuning (e.g., oblique effect amplitude, horizontal-vertical asymmetry, and direction noise), and speed tuning (e.g., speed responsiveness and noise). This quantitative approach may provide fast and results (e.g., a multi-dimensional set of oculometrics and a single scalar impairment index) that can be interpreted by one without a high degree of scientific sophistication or extensive training.

Active attractant composition for insects

An attractant for an insect trap functions by creating an attractive smell or other olfactory sensation, or an antennal response which elicits a behavioral response for a flying insect. In the case of the housefly (musca domestica), preferred attractant ingredients are tremethylamine, butyric acid, Z-9-tricosene (muscalure), and egg powder. Highly volatile attractant components are dispensed separately, and all air-borne attractants are mixed and distributed together to enhance the synergistic effects between them. The present invention is the first explicit report of the synergy between chemical attractants (e.g. trimethylamine and butyric acid) and food attractants, such as egg powder. If the attractants of the present invention are packaged in a cartridge, then precise amounts of the discreet chemical attractants can be metered out for optimum attraction of insects. Further, the concentrations of chemical components of the attractant composition comprising the present invention are tightly controlled to avoid objectionable odors, but at the same time, attract flies.

Optimal toll pricing method to mitigate traffic network risk

Nowadays, the research on congestion pricing and exhaust pollution pricing is very extensive, but the safety pricing to reduce the risk of traffic network is rarely concerned. Therefore, the inventionestablishes a novel two-layer model system. In the upper layer model, the manager minimizes the safety function of the traffic network and designs the charging mode based on it. In the lower model, the behavioral response of travelers to the upper-level pricing will be reflected by a four-stage sequential model with feedback mechanism. In order to solve the above-mentioned two-layer model, the invention is based on the Monte Carlo simulation, a feasible direction method, an iterative weighting method (MSA), a Frank-Wolfe algorithm and a Dijkstra algorithm, and a stochastic feasible directionmethod is designed. Finally, the invention uses a Nguyen-Dupuis network to verify, and the results show that the proposed method and algorithm are feasible and effective. The method of the present invention can be a valuable tool for policymakers who regard traffic safety as a primary policy objective and an evaluation indicator.
