845 results about "Hot swapping" patented technology

Hot swapping (frequently inaccurately called hot plugging) is replacing or adding components without stopping or shutting down the system. With the appropriate software installed on the computer, a user can plug and unplug such components without rebooting. Specifically, hot swapping describes inserting and/or removing components without interruption to the system. A well-known example of this hot swap functionality is the Universal Serial Bus (USB) that allows users to add or remove peripheral components such as a mouse, keyboard, printer, or portable hard drive; depending upon the supplier such devices are characterized as hot-swappable or hot-pluggable.

Modular power supply

PCT No. PCT / AU96 / 00637 Sec. 371 Date Oct. 23, 1998 Sec. 102(e) Date Oct. 23, 1998 PCT Filed Oct. 10, 1996 PCT Pub. No. WO97 / 14206 PCT Pub. Date Apr. 17, 1997A modular power supply (2) suitable for application as an uninterruptable power supply for use with electrical equipment such as computers. A module (6) of the power supply may include a battery (32), a charging circuit for the battery (34), a power supply circuit coupled to mains electricity and the battery (30, 36, 40), and a control circuit (38) for selectively providing power to the electrical equipment (12) by way of the power supply circuit from either mains electricity (10) or the battery as source. The module is also provided with a coupling which is adapted to connect the module in parallel with at least one other module. A housing may be provided to receive a plurality of modules, which are connected together in parallel by way of plugs and sockets when received in the housing. The plugs and sockets and the control circuit may be adapted to enable "hot-swapping" of the modules from the housing. The modules may also be interconnected in the housing by way of a control line (20) which enables communication of the modules for making a majority rules decision concerning the provision of power from the mains or battery on the basis of fluctuations in the electrical mains supply.

Disposing structure for hot swappable motherboard in industrial computer chassis

A disposing structure of industrial computer chassis includes a chassis shell, two motherboard trays and a back plate. The interior of the chassis shell is divided into a storage unit section and a motherboard section. The interior of the storage unit section is arranged at least one storage unit, while two motherboard trays are disposed in the motherboard section. The interior of each motherboard tray is arranged a motherboard. In the motherboard trays, at least one motherboard tray is extended a wedge frame toward the storage unit section. A transfer card having a hot swapping function is arranged on the wedge frame and is arranged by inserting into the corresponding motherboard. In addition, a back plate is arranged between the storage unit section and the motherboard section. Corresponding to the wedge frame, a slot capable of a hot swapping function is arranged on the back plate. In so doing, the transfer card may be inserted into the slot, thereby, providing a hot swapping function.

Dynamic management system and method for C++ application program version

The invention provides a dynamic management system and a dynamic management method for a C++ application program version. The system comprises an application plug-in module, a host program module, an application processing interface module, an application processing interface dynamic registration module, an application plug-in loading / unloading module, an application version distribution module and an application version acquisition module. Application logics are encapsulated into a dynamic shared library by reasonably using dynamic shared library technology, and meanwhile, the application logics are dynamically loaded by designing a system framework; and when the application program version is upgraded, only corresponding dynamic shared library files are upgraded and then loaded through the system framework to realize online update of an application program, and the whole process does not need to shut down and interrupt the service, namely hot plug.

Multi-chamber spray cooling system

The present invention uses multiple global cooling chambers for providing liquid cooling to a plurality of electronic components. The global cooling chambers utilize a non-electrically conductive fluid which is in direct contact with the components to be cooled. The system provides very effective heat transfer rates, environmental isolation of the electronics components and can be deployed in a wide range of applications. Multiple global cooling chambers allows for the hot swapping of cards during operation of the system.

Surgical headlight

A surgical headlamp containing dual lamp housings, each containing one or more LED light sources is featured. Both lamp housings may be adjusted so that light beams emitted by each may be selectively converged at a spot a predetermined distance in front of the lamp housings. Each lamp housing typically contains, in addition to the LED(s), one or more reflectors to gather and direct light generated by the LED(s) forward to an illuminated work area. Batteries, preferably rechargeable, mounted either on the headband supporting the headlamp on a user's head or external to the headband, are used to power the LED(s). Switch and / or dimming circuitry may be provided. Hot swapping, a capability whereby batteries may be interchanged during a lengthy surgical procedure, is also provided.
