Improved acquisition of system information of another cell

Method for informing a mobile terminal (MN), which is located in a first cell, on system information of a second cell. In particular, pointers to the system information are transmitted from the base station of the first cell to the mobile node, while the mobile node is located in the first cell. The MN processes said pointer, comprising e.g. information on the transmission format and timing of system information in the second cell. Using an acquisition gap assigned by the network, the MN changes the frequency to the second frequency so as to acquire the system information based on the previously received scheduling information. Thus, the acquisition time for important system information may be reduced, as no Master Information Block on the second frequency has to be processed first, in order to acquire the system information.

Optical body tracker

An optical system tracks the motion of objects, including the human body or portions thereof using a plurality of three-dimensional active markers based upon triangulation from data read via multiple linear CCDs through cylindrical lenses. Each marker is lit in sequence so that it is in sync with a frame capture using the imaging system positioned and oriented so as to provide a basis for computing three-dimensional location. In the preferred embodiment, the imaging system detects an infrared signal which is sent out by the tag controller as part of the tag / marker illumination sequence at the beginning of the first tag position capture time. The controller then traverses through the tags in time sync with each imaging system frame capture cycle. Thus, only one unique tag will be lit during each image capture of the cameras, thereby simplifying identification. Using linear CCD sensors, the frame time (i.e. point acquisition time) is very short, allowing very many markers to be sampled and located sequentially in real time.

Circuitry to reduce PLL lock acquisition time

A phase locked loop, PLL, is described with multiple parallel charge pumps that are selectively disabled as phase lock is approached. A lock detection circuit is described that enabled reference currents to be fed to the parallel charge pumps. The error signal from a phase detector is arranged as UP and a DOWN signals that are averaged in the lock detector. When the average error is large, all the reference currents feed the charge pumps that provide a high loop gain to reduce the lock time. As the lock becomes closer selective reference currents are disabled to reduce loop gain so that a smooth transition to lock is made. Selectively switching currents into a low pass filter that usually follows a charge pump in a PLL circuit automatically reduces switching noise by the operation of the low pass filter.

Method & system for multi-modality imaging of sequentially obtained pseudo-steady state data

Methods, protocols and systems are provided for multi-modality imaging based on pharmacokinetics of an imaging agent. An imaging agent is introduced into a subject, and is permitted to collect generally in a region of interest (ROI) in the subject until attaining a pseudo-steady state (PSS) distribution within the ROI. The imaging agent records a first functional state of the ROI at a given point in time. A first image data set is obtained with a first imaging modality during a first acquisition time interval that occurs prior or proximate in time with the PSS time interval. The subject is transferred from the first imaging modality to a second imaging modality during a transfer time interval that overlaps the PSS time interval. Once transfer is complete, a second image data set is obtained with the second imaging modality during a second acquisition time interval that also overlaps the PSS time interval in which the imaging agent maintains the PSS distribution in the ROI. In accordance with a protocol, the transfer time interval and second acquisition time interval substantially fall within the PSS time interval. The imaging agent collects in the ROI during an uptake time interval which may or may not precede the time interval during which first imaging modality obtains at least a portion of the first image data set. The second image data set is obtained while the imaging agent persists in the ROI at the PSS distribution reflective of the first functional state even after the ROI is no longer in the first functional state.

Moving table MRI with frequency-encoding in the z-direction

A system and method are disclosed using continuous table motion while acquiring data to reconstruct MR images across a large FOV without significant slab-boundary artifacts that reduces acquisition time. At each table position, full z-encoding data are acquired for a subset of the transverse k-space data. The table is moved through a number of positions over the desired FOV and MR data are acquired over the plurality of table positions. Since full z-data are acquired for each slab, the data can be Fourier transformed in z, interpolated, sorted, and aligned to match anatomic z locations. The fully sampled and aligned data is then Fourier transformed in remaining dimension(s) to reconstruct the final image that is free of slab-boundary artifacts.
