The invention discloses a
pruning method for peppers. Three primary lateral branches on a whole
plant are selected and remained and three secondary lateral branches on each primary lateral
branch are selected and remained. The
pruning method comprises the following steps: S1, when a
main stem of a pepper
plant grows to 15-25 cm high,
topping to promote
germination of lateral branches; S2, when the lateral branches at middle and upper parts of the
main stem grow to 3-5 cm long, selecting three lateral branches as primary lateral branches, and
cutting off other germinated lateral branches on the
main stem at the same time; S3, when 6-8 true leaves grow on the primary lateral branches,
topping to promote
germination of secondary lateral branches; S4, when the secondary lateral branches grow to 3-5 cm long, selecting three lateral branches from each primary lateral
branch as secondary lateral branches, and meanwhile
cutting off the primary lateral branches and other germinated lateral branches on the main stem; and S5, when cotyledons begin to become yellow, removing true leaves on the main stem in batches. The method has the advantages of improving a
plant population structure, increasing the number of bearing branches and increasing bearing sites. Meanwhile, the method increases near-ground ventilation and
light transmission of plants, reduces
air humidity, improves
photosynthetic efficiency, enables the plants to grow and develop more robustly, effectively controls plant diseases and
insect pests and increases a fruit setting rate.
