Method and Apparatus for Processing Video Stream in a Digital Video Broadcasting System

A novel method and system for enhancing user experience when switching channel in digital video broadcasting system is proposed. The invention proposes a server-based cache mechanism which caches all channels simultaneously in a cache server near from the video playing terminal. The channel switch latency could be heavily reduced since the initial part of the current GOP of any channel could be retrieved from the cache server, therefore the user experience is improved greatly.

Directional two-dimensional router and interconnection network for field programmable gate arrays, and other circuits and applications of the router and network

A configurable directional 2D router for Networks on Chips (NOCs) is disclosed. The router, which may be bufferless, is designed for implementation in programmable logic in FPGAs, and achieves theoretical lower bounds on FPGA resource consumption for various applications. The router employs an FPGA router switch design that consumes only one 6-LUT or 8-input ALM logic cell per router per bit of router link width. A NOC comprising a plurality of routers may be configured as a directional 2D torus, or in diverse ways, network sizes and topologies, data widths, routing functions, performance-energy tradeoffs, and other options. System on chip designs may employ a plurality of NOCs with different configuration parameters to customize the system to the application or workload characteristics. A great diversity of NOC client cores, for communication amongst various external interfaces and devices, and on-chip interfaces and resources, may be coupled to a router in order to efficiently communicate with other NOC client cores. The router and NOC enable feasible FPGA implementation of large integrated systems on chips, interconnecting hundreds of client cores over high bandwidth links, including compute and accelerator cores, industry standard IP cores, DRAM / HBM / HMC channels, PCI Express channels, and 10G / 25G / 40G / 100G / 400G networks.

Minimizing handoffs and handoff times in wireless local area networks

A method for reducing the number of channels that are scanned during a handoff situation for a wireless endpoint station in a wireless local area network (WLAN), such as an IEEE 802.11 network, by tracking past user movements within the WLAN. A suitable sequence of channels to be scanned is generated so that reduce the number of handoffs are reduced and the average time during a handoff is reduced. To reduce handoffs and handoff latencies, the principle of locality (user movement patterns tend to be repetitive) is used. By tracking the past handoffs, future handoffs are predicted.

Fast switching method based on movement detection in wireless network

The invention discloses a fast switching method based on movement detection in a wireless network, comprising the following steps: movement detection: firstly, a distance between a AP and a movable node is estimated by collecting a RSSI value in a movable node data packet, secondly, the position information of the movable node is obtained by using node location so as to predict the move direction and the mode speed of the movable node with the position information; AP selection: proper neighbor AP is selected according to the move direction and the move speed of the movable node so as to be provided to the movable node for switching; and fast switching: the fast switching of the movable node is realized by amending traditional 802.11 protocol. The invention uses the movement detection method to predict the nest switched AP of the movable node by amending the traditional 802.11 protocol, when the movable node needs to be switched, only need to scan a signal path in which the preliminarily selected AP is located, therefore, switching time delay is reduced and the fast switching is realized.

Multi-attribute handover decision method for heterogeneous vehicle communication network

A multi-attribute handover judging method for a heterogeneous vehicle communication network comprises the following steps: a handover management entity reads information on a candidate network in a field network report buffer entity, and the diameter of the coverage region of the candidate network is calculated; a mobility prediction information management entity acquires position information and speed information of a mobile user, and sends the position information and the speed information to the handover management entity; possible residence time and throughput capacity in each neighbor access network of the mobile user is estimated, when the throughput capacity during handover is higher than the throughput capacity in a normal state, the candidate network is added in an alternative list; an optimal target access network is determined to be switched into the network by the handover management entity via an analytic hierarchy process and according to service quality requirements; when the intensity of the current switch-in network signal is lowered to a threshold value, a handover execution instruction is sent to carry out handover. The multi-attribute handover judging method provided by the invention avoids unnecessary handover when a traveling vehicle passes through a region covered by heterogeneous access network, reduces handover delay and ensures the continuity of the communication.

Information center network mobility management method based on content popularity

The invention discloses an information center network mobility management method based on content popularity and belongs to the technical field of next-generation internet technology research. The method includes the steps that, a requester side moves, specifically, the content requester sends an Interest package request, a router in a network receives the Interest message, the local cache is searched first, the Interest message is directly returned to the requester if the content exists in the local cache, and otherwise a PIT table is searched; a proxy node compares the popularity of the content with a popularity threshold value K; a content source moves to a new position and sends a 'handoff completion' message to the proxy node, wherein it is indicated that handoff is completed if an M marking position is '2', and a K marking position is 'NULL'. According to the method, the mobility of mobile nodes in the content center network is achieved, and the mobility management method based on the proxy node and the web cache avoids communication outage caused by single-fault nodes and link failure; once the proxy node fails and can not serve any more, the network can automatically carry out handoff in a web cache mode, and therefore it is guaranteed that communications are conducted normally.
