410 results about "Air line" patented technology

An air line is a tube, or hose, that carries a compressed air supply. In industry this may be used to inflate tyres or power tools worked by compressed air or to operate other pneumatic systems, or for breathing apparatus in hazardous environments. Air line is also used for supplying compressed air in road vehicle air brake or railway air brake systems on larger vehicles or railway carriages or locomotives, and air lines are used in underwater diving where a compressor or a hand-powered air pump supplies air to a diver for breathing or other uses.

Motor vehicle pneumatic jacklift system

A permanently mounted pneumatic jack (jacklift) system for motor vehicles, as well as an impact wrench for removing and installing lug nuts. The system provides a quick and safe means of lifting one or more tires off the ground for replacement of a spare or rotating the tires on a motor vehicle. The present invention comprises two or more (typically four) pneumatic jacks, a system ON / OFF switch, an air compressor, a 120-psi air tank, air lines (hoses), individual jack extend / retract switches, jack position-locking pins, safety-locking pins, and impact wrench. Each jack can be locked in a horizontal stowaway or vertical operational position. The jack is cylindrical shaped with a telescopic body that can be extended or retracted as needed to raise and lower the vehicle. A solid cylindrical lift rod slides inside a cylindrical outer housing with a high-pressure seal means used to maintain pressure on the support rod. A ground support foot (plate) is mounted on the lower end of the solid cylindrical lift rod to provide sufficient traction with the ground to support the lifting process. A quick release air coupler is included on the pneumatic chamber to support the use of an air hose and impact wrench. An extend / retract toggle switch is included on each jack to control a solenoid valve to allow the air to flow into the jack. A quick release safety-locking pin is used to mechanically pin the solid cylindrical lift rod to the outer housing once the desired height is achieved to assure that the vehicle does not fall down in the event of a high-pressure air loss, thereby providing safety to the person(s) working around the vehicle. An air compressor located in the engine compartment of the vehicle is mechanically belt-driven off the engine. A high-pressure air line carries the air to a high-pressure (at least 120-psi) air tank located in the trunk or other suitable storage area on the vehicle. Separate air lines extend from the air tank to the individual jacks.

Air-conditioning system for below-deck areas of a passenger aircraft

An aircraft air-conditioning system provides ventilation, air-conditioning and fire protection for a below-deck stairwell and cargo hold that may be equipped with passenger sleeping compartment containers. An air mixing unit mixes fresh air and recycled air to supply mixed air through a first supply air main line (31) and a supply air unit (21) into the freight hold (4), and through a second supply air main line (32) into the stairwell (5). A trimming air unit (7A) provides hot bleed air from the aircraft engines into the mixed air supplied through the first and second supply air main lines (31, 32). An exhaust air line (11) extracts exhaust air from the freight hold (4), while an exhaust air supplemental line (15) extracts exhaust air from the stairwell (5), both of which are connected to an exhaust air main line with an exhaust air ventilator (16) that blows the exhaust air overboard. A bypass line (8) provides bypass air if needed for the demands of the ventilator (16). Regulating valves and non-return flap valves in the supply air line and in the exhaust air line regulate the flow of air and prevent back-flow. Temperature sensors are connected to a controller that regulates the temperature of the mixed supply air to achieve a comfortable temperature in the freight hold and in the stairwell. In the event of fire, the air valves are closed, to seal-off the freight hold (4) and prevent the spread of smoke into the stairwell or other ventilated areas.

Self returning contamination barrier

A barrier of a vacuum pump prevents contamination from entering a vacuum pump air line. The barrier separates parts of the pump and is moveable between an initial state and a distended state. The barrier is assembled within the pump with a pre-load. When the vacuum source is applied to the barrier, the barrier achieves a distended state and when the vacuum source is released, the barrier incrementally self returns to an initial state. The geometry and material construction of the barrier, along with the pre-load, assists in returning the barrier on its own to the initial state from the distended state.

Ear Canal Pressurization Device

An ear canal pressurization device optimized for aural acoustic immittance testing is disclosed. The preferred embodiment of the device is comprised of a rigid mounting framework which holds in position, axially aligned, a first flexible chamber assembly, a centrally disposed forcer assembly, and a second flexible chamber assembly. The forcer assembly comprises a ferromagnetic bobbin and coil that provides electromotive force for a moving magnet linear motor. The motor is comprised of a rigid chamber link, which passes through the hollow core of the bobbin, with a ferromagnetic keeper washer and axially aligned rare earth ring magnet at either end, with like magnetic poles facing each other. The motor is elastically suspended between the first and second flexible chambers. Current flow through the coil of the forcer assembly provides motive force for the motor via attraction or repulsion of the motor magnets and movement of the motor increases the volume of the first flexible chamber while decreasing the volume of the second flexible chamber, or vice versa. The internal volume of the first flexible chamber is coupled via an air line to an ear canal and through a controlled valve to a small vent, and the internal volume of the second flexible chamber is vented to ambient air pressure. Changes in volume of the first flexible chamber, due to motor movement, produce changes in ear canal pressure re Boyle's law. The vent may be opened to allow ear canal pressure to gently equalize to ambient air pressure or to generate ear canal pressure sweeps free of pressure baseline offset. The vent may be closed to set a static ear canal pressure or to generate ear canal pressure sweeps with an incidental baseline offset. The vent may be controlled to generate ear canal pressure sweeps with an intended baseline offset. The device produces ear canal pressure proportional to drive voltage, so any desired pressure versus time function can be generated by applying a coil driving voltage with the appropriate amplitude versus time function. The device operates quietly to avoid interference with aural acoustic immittance measurement, and should have a long and maintenance free life span.
