The invention discloses a plug seedling method for tomato. The plug seedling method is characterized by using a seedling-raising substrate which is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by mass: 40 to 50 parts of wormcast, 20 to 30 parts of corncob, 3 to 5 parts of sweet potato leaf, 5 to 10 parts of peanut shell, 5 to 10 parts of peat, 20 to 30 parts of vermiculite, 5 to 15 parts ofvegetable garden soil, 10 to 20 parts of an inorganic fertilizer and 1 to 3 parts of microbial strains, wherein the microbial strains comprise Bacillus subtilis, yeast, Bacillus licheniformis and Lactobacillus acidophilus with a mass ratio of (3-5): (4-6): (2-3): (2-3). The substrate provided by the invention has the advantages of good air permeability, rapid heating, rapid seedling emergence, high seedling emergence rate, and facilitation of formation of strong seedlings.
