The molecular formula of the crystal is YbxGdyBaF2+3x+3y, wherein x is the doping density of Yb3+ and is equal to 1-10mol percent; and y is the doping density of Gd3+, and is equal to 10-30mol percent. The crystal is grown by a melt method. The crystal has large absorption and emission section, long fluorescence lifetime and high heat conductivity, is a laser gain material for high-efficiency, high-frequency and high-power lasers, and can be used for laser diode pumped high-frequency, high-power tunable or ultrashort-pulse lasers.
