Enhanced vision for driving

A system for imposing a filter between a vehicle driver's eyes and a source of light including at least one detector facing inward into a compartment in the vehicle toward a likely position of the head of the vehicle driver and arranged to obtain images of the eyes of the driver and a processor coupled to the detector(s) and arranged to determine the location of the driver's eyes based on analysis of the images obtained by the detector(s) and to obtain information about objects exterior of the vehicle providing sources of light from the images obtained by the detector(s) based on reflections off of the driver's eyes, i.e., the position of such objects. A filter, such as a pixelated screen, is imposed between the sources of light and the driver's eyes based on the location of the driver's eyes and the information about the exterior objects providing the sources of light.

Expandable guide sheath with steerable backbone and methods for making and using them

Apparatus and methods are provided for providing access to a body lumen. The apparatus includes a tubular member including a proximal end, a distal end sized for insertion into a body lumen, and a lumen extending therebetween. A pushable stiffening member extends from the distal end of the tubular member. An expandable sheath extends along at least a portion of the stiffening member, the sheath being expandable from a contracted condition to facilitate insertion into a body lumen, and an enlarged condition wherein the sheath at least partially defines a lumen communicating with the tubular member lumen. A distal portion of the sheath is steerable, e.g., using a pull wire disposed within a lumen of the sheath or within the stiffening member. In addition or alternatively, the stiffening member may be biased to a predetermined shape to facilitate introduction.

Antireflective coating and method of manufacturing same

What is described here is an antireflective coating comprising a carrier layer consisting of an optically transparent material, which, at least on one surface side, presents antireflective properties with respect the wavelengths of the radiation incident on the surface. Moreover, methods of producing the coating are described. The invention excels itself by the provision that the antireflective surface side presents a surface roughness with stochastically distributed structures-the so-called macro structures-and that the macro structures are additionally modulated with surface structures presenting a periodic sequence-the so-called micro structures-which present period or cycle lengths smaller than the wave lengths of the radiation incident on the antireflective surface.

Method for recycling metal oxide from waste flue gas denitration catalyst

The invention discloses a method for recycling a metal oxide from a waste flue gas denitration catalyst, comprising the following steps of: crushing the waste flue gas denitration catalyst to carry out pre-roasting pretreatment at high temperature; adding Na2CO3 into the waste flue gas denitration catalyst according to the proportion, mixing, pulverizing and roasting at high temperature to obtain a sintering block; crushing the sintering block and putting the crushed sintering block into hot water, and stirring and lixiviating to obtain titanate; adding sulphuric acid into the titanate, filtering, water-washing and roasting to obtain TiO2; adding the sulphuric acid into the lixiviated filtering liquid to regulate a pH value to 8.0-9.0; adding excessive NH4Cl for vanadium precipitation; decomposing NH4VO3 obtained from filtering at high temperature to prepare a V2O5 product; adding hydrochloric acid into the filtering liquid subjected to the vanadium precipitation to regulate a pH value to 4.5-5.0; adding CaCl2 for molybdenum and tungsten precipitation; treating the CaM0O4 and CaWO4, obtained from filtering, with the hydrochloric acid and roasting to obtain MoO3 and WO3. The method of the invention has the advantages of simple process and apparatus, high recycling efficiency, good product technical data, large treatment capacity and the like.

Wireless patient monitoring device for magnetic resonance imaging

The invention relates to systems, methods, and associated devices for wirelessly communicating physiologic signals or other data in an electromagnetically noisy environment, such as a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suite. They permit wireless communication of data obtained from a sensor module attached to a patient while situated within the bore of an MR scanner. The system includes a first transceiver and a second transceiver. The first transceiver is linked to the sensor module for transmitting the data received therefrom. The second transceiver, which is connected to an apparatus remote from the first transceiver, is used to convey to the apparatus the data received from the first transceiver. The first and second transceivers enable the sensor module and the apparatus to communicate unidirectionally or bidirectionally without being adversely affected by, or adversely affecting, the operation of the MR system.
