Consumer-directed financial transfers using automated clearinghouse networks

Consumer directed transfers of funds over the Internet are provided by a combination of systems and networks, including the Internet, email, and the Automated Clearinghouse system (ACH). A host system provided by a funds transfer service manages requests of senders to transfer funds and further manages responses of receivers to claim funds. The host system allows the sender to initiate the funds transfer by specifying the amount of the transfer and information for contacting the receiver, without the need to specify the account of the receiver for receiving the funds. Instead, the host system contacts the receiver and informs the receiver of the available funds; the receiver can then provide the necessary target account information for completing the funds transfer. The ACH is used to effect the transfer of funds, with the host system providing instructions for ACH entries to its financial institution using account information separately received from the sender and receiver. The credit risk associated with originating ACH entries is reduced by use of the Point of Sale system to verify sufficient funds in the sender's account by comparing the closing balance of the day the funds transfer is requested with the transfer amount. Sender fraud is reduced by comparing a sender provided balance (or check number/amounts) with an account balance acquired through automated means such as the POS system or ATM network.

Planar resonator gyroscope central die attachment

Packaging techniques for planar resonator gyroscopes, such as disc resonator gyroscopes (DRGs) are disclosed. A gyroscope die may be attached to its package substrate on a central disc area that is inboard of its embedded electrodes. This configuration eliminates contact of the die with the package substrate beneath the embedded electrodes allowing the internal electrode support structure to expand or contract freely without stress as its temperature changes. The central attachment can also be used diminish the package temperature gradients on the periphery of the die, if the thermal conductivity of the central disc attachment material is higher than the package substrate. Temperature gradients across the resonator also lead to thermoelastic damping asymmetry and rate drift. In addition, the electrical connections to the die may be formed by vertical vias within the central disc attachment area or by thin wirebonds to peripheral I / O pads on the gyro chip.

An electrostatic clamp is provided having a clamping plate, wherein the clamping plate has a central region and an annulus region. A plurality of gas supply orifices are defined in the central region of the clamping plate, wherein the plurality of gas supply orifices are in fluid communication with a pressurized gas supply, and wherein the pressurized gas supply is configured to provide a cushion of gas between the clamping surface and the workpiece in the central region of the clamping plate via the plurality of gas supply orifices. One or more gas return orifices defined in one or more of the central region and annulus region of the clamping plate, wherein the one or more gas return orifices are in fluid communication with a vacuum source, therein generally defining an exhaust path for the cushion of gas. A seal is disposed in the annulus region of the clamping plate, wherein the seal is configured to generally prevent a leakage of the cushion of gas from the central region to an environment external to the annulus region. One or more electrodes are further electrically connected to a first voltage potential to provide a first clamping force.

Methods of forming and feeding self-attaching fasteners are disclosed wherein the strip includes a plurality of spaced abutment surfaces, preferably notches, which may be used both during the manufacturing process and feeding of a strip of fasteners to an installation head. Where the fasteners are interconnected in a strip, by frangible wires, the wires are located in the bottom wall of the panel receiving grooves in the flange portions on opposed sides of the projecting pilot portion. A self-attaching fastener having deformable inclined lip portions which extend upwardly and toward the pilot portion from the flange portions which are deformed during installation to provide further securement for the panel when deformed in the grooves.
