Vaso-occlusive device having pivotable coupling

InactiveUS20060135986A1Avoid displacementDilatorsOcculdersOcclusiveCoupling
An assembly for occluding a vascular site (e.g., an aneurysm) of a human or veterinary patient includes a vaso-occlusive member, a pusher member having a distal end and a severable junction located proximal to the distal end, and a pivotable coupling that couples the pusher member to the occlusive member. A delivery catheter can be used to deliver the vaso-occlusive member to the vascular site. A method of using the assembly to occlude an aneurysm having an aneurysmal sac and an aneurysmal neck, comprises locating the catheter within the aneurysmal neck, and manipulating the pusher member to place the vaso-occlusive member within the aneurysmal sac. The method further comprises severing the severable junction to detach the vaso-occlusive member from the pusher member. As a result, an axial force is applied by the vaso-occlusive member in a proximal direction, which buckles the pivotable coupling to laterally deflect the axial force. The lateral deflection of the axial force caused by the buckling of the pivotable coupling prevents the catheter from being displaced from the aneurysmal neck by the axial force.

Vegetation attachment device

A vegetation attachment device for supporting plant limbs is used in combination with an overhead support member, such as the horizontal support wire of a trellis system used to support grape vines. Embodiments of the device generally comprise an attachment hook configured to engage the overhead support wire, a closing hook, a catch member for engaging the closing hook, a deformable limb containment structure, and biasing means for maintaining the engagement of the closing hook to the catch member. The deformable limb containment structure deforms to accommodate limited lateral deflection or growth in the vine or plant limb. Embodiments of the disclosed apparatus may be used instead of currently known devices, such as wire ties, for supporting vines and branches.

InactiveUS6102558AAltering the photometry of the beamVehicle headlampsVehicle lighting systemsAngle of incidenceWide beam
A motor vehicle headlight comprising a light source, a reflector and a cover lens. The reflector generates a pre-formed light beam such that its modification by any optical elements on the cover lens is unnecessary. The cover lens receives, from at least a substantial part of the reflector, radiation having a mean angle of incidence in a horizontal plane which varies progressively with horizontal displacement over the cover lens. The cover lens includes a set of striations for lateral deflection of the light, with each striation having an individual angular distribution law which is determined by the orientation of the light from the reflector and by the lateral spreading characteristic of the striation. The spreading characteristics of the striations are determined in such a way that the aggregate angular distribution law of the different striations has a curve which is essentially flat.

Method for lateral control of unmanned aerial vehicle

The invention discloses a method for lateral control of an unmanned aerial vehicle, which belongs to the field of the control of the unmanned aerial vehicle flight. In the method, the input lateral posture control volume gamma (g) of a lateral posture control loop is calculated according to the lateral deflection distance Sg, the lateral migration velocity and the distance to go Dtogo of an unmanned aerial vehicle, so as to guide the unmanned aerial vehicle to fly along an expected airliner. The invention fully considers aircraft performances and actual flight conditions to dynamically determine the limit amplitude of the lateral migration speed, so as to achieve the high-quality transition for correction of the actual flight path; and the flying velocity vector of the aircraft changes along the shorter path to the direction of the expected airline during the switching of the flight segment of the aircraft, thereby avoiding the unnecessary cross in the flight path, shortening the airline flight path, and improving the flight performance.

The invention discloses a transmission device and an air conditioner comprising the transmission device. The transmission device comprises a first connecting rod, a second connecting rod, air guiding blades and a horizontal transmission mechanism. A second sliding part of the second connecting rod is slidably connected with a first sliding part of the first connecting rod, and the horizontal transmission mechanism drives the air guiding blades connected to the second connecting rod to perform lateral deflection through the first connecting rod. When the air guiding blades perform longitudinal movement up and down in air outlet, the air guiding blades are adjusted to the appropriate position according to a running mode of the air conditioner so as to overcome influence on wind direction adjustment caused by adjustment of density difference between air flow and indoor air. Simultaneously, when left and right swing is not needed, the air guiding blades can all descend into an air conditioner base below the air outlet to be hidden; simultaneously, when swing is not needed, the air guiding blades can move downwards until the air guiding blades are hidden; the air conditioner is intelligently controlled to supply air in a three-dimensional mode through the transmission device, manual poking is not needed, and accidents in the operation process are avoided.

Billiard training ball

A mostly transparent billiard ball particularly useful as a training cue ball is disclosed. The ball includes an inner core centered within a sufficiently transparent spherical outer covering that provides an optimum zone, visible to the player, at which he or she can aim the tip of a cue stick. This inner zone is especially serviceable to restrict a player's aim when striking the ball off-center in order to effectively impart sidespin while limiting lateral deflection to the ball. The inner zone may also simply assist the player to determine the ball's exact center when striking the ball in order to accurately impart no sidespin. In either case, cueing technique is enhanced and the player practices with consistency. The centered inner core also provides enough mass to bring the training ball to within an acceptable weight range for casual and professional levels of play.

Apparatus and process for the lateral deflection and separation of flowing particles by a static array of optical tweezers

A method and apparatus for laterally deflecting and / or separating a flow of particles using a static array of optical tweezers. In an array of optical tweezers with a lattice constant larger than the size of a particle of interest, particles driven past the array by an external force experience an additional interaction with the array of traps. By altering the angle of the array of traps relative to the external force, the particles' movement from trap to trap inside the array can be biased away from the direction of the external force, thereby enabling selective deflection and / or separation of particles.
