A connector for securing an interior trim assembly to a support of an automobile. The connector includes a connector body having a head portion formed at a proximal end of the connector body and a shank portion extending from the head portion toward a distal end of the connector body. A sealing gasket is integrally molded onto the connector body distally of the head portion. A two-shot molding process may be used to form the connector with the connector body being formed in the first shot of the molding process and the sealing gasket being formed onto the connector body in the second shot of the molding process.

A clip has a head part adapted to be contacted with a peripheral edge of a fitting hole in a panel to be fitted, and a leg part adapted to be inserted into the fitting hole thereby to be engaged with the peripheral edge of the fitting hole. The leg part has a post suspended from a center of a lower face of the head part, at least three projections which are radially extended from the post in a diametrical direction and connected to the lower face of the head part at their upper ends, and engaging pieces which are extended from these projections in a circumferential direction to be respectively positioned between the projections. A locking device is disclosed for interlocking two members having aligned openings extending therethrough. The device includes a hollow cap and a pin with an enlarged head at one end and a nose at the opposite end. The pin is insertable through the aligned openings of the members, with its nose received in interlocked engagement within the cap, and with the two members captured between the cap and the enlarged head of the pin. A frangible portion of the pin is severable in response to relative rotation between its nose and enlarged head to thereby destructively disassemble the locking device.

In a head protecting air bag device according to the present invention, a clip for attaching an attaching portion of an air bag to a fixing part on the side of a vehicle body includes a clip body and a locking part. The clip body has a shaft having a pair of securing legs protruded. The pair of securing legs are inserted in the fixing slot of the fixing part from an in-vehicle side via the attaching slot of the attaching portion and secured to the peripheral edge on an out-vehicle side of the fixing slot. The shaft is composed of a shell member of a metallic plate on the outer periphery and a core member of synthetic resin on the inner periphery. The core member is arranged on the opposite sides of a pair of securing lugs of the shell member. The core member has an inserting space in which a spacer of the locking part is inserted between the pair of securing lugs. The spacer limits the mutual approaching of the pair of securing legs. In the head protecting air bag according to this invention, using the clip, the attaching portion of the air bag can be easily attached to the vehicle body side with assured attaching stability.

The clip is comprised of an insert nose portion with outwardly tapered legs to form a first retaining portion. The outwardly extending legs terminate in opposed flanges and during deployment of an air bag side curtain. The clip is displaced any distance, and preferably 13-15 mm, yet retained in the aperture to prevent the trim cover from detachment from the pillar during air bag deployment.

The bracket (14) has a reference notch (40) engaging the reference nodule (28) positioning the bracket (14) relative to the panel (12). A plurality of retainers (18) are mounted on the bracket (14). A double-sided adhesive tape (16) has a first adhesive on a first side thereof compatible for adhesion to the bracket (14) and a second adhesive on a second side thereof compatible for adhesion to the panel (12). The first side of the adhesive tape (16) is applied to the bracket (14) and the second side is applied to the panel (12). The tape (16) allows expansion and contraction movement of the panel (12) while securely retaining the panel (12) to the vehicle substrate.
