The shock absorbing thumb wheel includes a central hub that can be secured to an electro-mechanical switch, a rim encircling the central hub, and force dispersion spokes extending from the central hub and connected to the rim. The configuration of the force dispersion spokes and the resilient material of the force dispersion spokes and the rim allow for radial and lateral deflection of the rim in response to an applied impact force. The impact force is thereby at least partially absorbed by the radial and lateral deflection of the rim and spokes, such that less impact force is transferred to connections between the electro-mechanical switch and any assembly to which the switch is attached. Hence, the probability of connection failures is reduced, and the lifetime of a device that uses the thumb wheel can be extended.

The circuit interrupting device includes a housing having a cover and a base, a mounting plate, and an electrical component mounting member, a pair of input hot and neutral conductors and a pair of output hot and neutral conductors, a differential transformer for detecting a leakage current, a disconnecting mechanism for connecting and disconnecting the output conductors to and from input conductors, and a mechanism for preventing reverse wiring, which includes a coil connected to the input hot and neutral conductors and a moveable piece that moves when the coil is energized. The input and output conductors are electrically connected only when the coil is energized by correctly connecting the power wires to the input conductors of the device. This device thus provides both leakage current protection and reverse wiring protection that protects against incorrect wiring during installation.

In an electromagnet switch, a stationary iron core is composed mainly of a base part and a disk part. The base part is faced to a plunger and the disk part is forcedly inserted and fixed to a boss part formed in the base part. The disk part is composed of a metal plate of ferromagnetic substance (iron plate) and another substance plate (made of resin or rubber and the like, for example,) of a smaller spring constant or a larger damping coefficient than that of the metal plate. The metal plate and another substance plate are laminated. Another substance plate absorbs or reduces the impact force when the plunger is electromagnetically attracted toward and collides with the base part. The propagation of a large impact noise or crashing sound is thereby suppressed, and as a result the impact noise can be reduced.

Within a closing assembly that utilizes a ram assembly having a spring driven ram body, an energy dissipating spring seat assembly is provided. The ram body is mounted on a guide assembly having at least one pin. The guide assembly also includes a base plate and a stop plate. A ram assembly spring is disposed between the ram body and the base plate and is structured to bias the ram body toward the stop plate. The spring seat assembly includes a spring seat bracket and a spring seat. The spring seat is, preferably, a generally flat, plate-like leaf spring that is disposed between the ram assembly springs and the base plate of the ram body. The spring seat is sufficiently rigid so as to not deflect fully under the force created by the compressed ram assembly springs, but not so rigid as to resist deflecting under the force created when the ram body impacts the stop plate.

Structure of electromagnetic switch for starter

An electromagnetic switch for use in actuating a starter for automotive vehicles is provided. The switch includes fixed contacts, a moving contact, and a plunger shaft. The moving contact is joined to a plunger shaft through an insulator. The plunger shaft is to be moved magnetically to bring the moving contact into abutment with the fixed contact to establish electric communication between the fixed contact. The switch also includes a rotation holder working to hold the moving contact and the insulator from rotating relative to each other. Use of the rotation holder results in a decrease in wear of the insulator. This eliminates the need for the insulator to have an additional thickness which would be worn down, thus permitting the insulator to be reduced in thickness to shorten the overall length of the switch.

According to the operating mechanism and the switching apparatus using the same, the spring apparatus supplies an assisting force effect to a moving contact of the circuit breaker in a front period of the switch on and switch off, so that short-time output power and transient torque output capability of the power apparatus can be reduced, and the power apparatus obtains the characteristics of low rotational inertia, small size and light weight; and meanwhile, the spring apparatus supplies a buffering effect to the moving contact of the circuit breaker in a later period of the switch on and switch off, so that the circuit breaker can be stopped in the switch on and switch off positions smoothly and stably so as to lower impact force.

During the closing operation of a breaker, the movable iron core rushes to the air chamber at a high speed, air pressure acts on the end surface of the movable iron core, and the breaker can obtain an ideal closing damping effect. An air damper and the permanent magnet operating mechanism are integrated into a whole, and therefore the structure of the breaker is simplified and the performance of the breaker is improved; and since an original closing oil damper and accessories are not used, cost is reduced, resources are saved and oil pollution is avoided.
