2102 results about "Frequency regulation" patented technology

Frequency regulation (or just "regulation" for short) is a tool employed by power grid operators in those cases when the system frequency gets too high or too low. To understand how frequency could get too high or too low, we'll use yet another analogy that is shown in the figures below.

Electrosurgical generator and method with voltage and frequency regulated high-voltage current mode power supply

DC input energy is converted into DC output voltage by the use of a switched current mode high-voltage power supply. Pulses of input current are switched through a conversion transformer and the energy content of each pulse is converted into the DC output voltage. The time widths of the input current pulses are regulated relative to the DC input and output voltages, the magnitude of the current within each input current pulse, and in relation to maintaining a plurality of different selected operational conditions. The rate at which the input current pulses are converted is changed relative to the level of the DC output voltage.

Frequency and/or phase compensated microelectromechanical oscillator

There are many inventions described and illustrated herein. In one aspect, the present invention is directed to a compensated microelectromechanical oscillator, having a microelectromechanical resonator that generates an output signal and frequency adjustment circuitry, coupled to the microelectromechanical resonator to receive the output signal of the microelectromechanical resonator and, in response to a set of values, to generate an output signal having second frequency. In one embodiment, the values may be determined using the frequency of the output signal of the microelectromechanical resonator, which depends on the operating temperature of the microelectromechanical resonator and / or manufacturing variations of the microelectromechanical resonator. In one embodiment, the frequency adjustment circuitry may include frequency multiplier circuitry, for example, PLLs, DLLs, digital / frequency synthesizers and / or FLLs, as well as any combinations and permutations thereof. The frequency adjustment circuitry, in addition or in lieu thereof, may include frequency divider circuitry, for example, DLLS, digital / frequency synthesizers (for example, DDS) and / or FLLs, as well as any combinations and permutations thereof.

Variable frequency energy-saving control method for refrigeration system

The invention belongs to the technical field of energy conservation, and relates to a variable frequency energy-saving control method for a refrigeration system. The control method comprises the steps of: determining the mass flow of a refrigerant according to the change or change trend of cooling load, then determining consumed power of a compressor which satisfies the flow, predicting the minimum condensation pressure which ensures that the thermal load of a condenser satisfies the cooling load and the power change of the compressor through an established energy-saving control mathematical model, and gradually adjusting the power frequency of the compressor to ensure that the rotating speed of the compressor reaches a predicted value; and adjusting the opening degree of an expansion valve to ensure that the condensation pressure reaches to be lowest, realizing the minimum pressure difference operation between the condenser and an evaporator, and ensuring that the operation energy consumption of the refrigeration system is lowest. The method solves the optimizing control problem of the compressor, the expansion valve and a fan in the system, utilizes the energy-saving control mathematical model to perform joint regulation on controllable factors (such as the rotating speed of the compressor, the opening degree of the expansion valve, and the air volume of an outdoor unit) of the operation of the system, ensures that the refrigeration system operates at a best operating point, and realizes the further energy conservation of the refrigeration system based on the variable frequency regulation.

Analog open-loop VCO calibration method

An analog open-loop voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) calibration circuit and method for selecting the frequency of the VCO for a phase locked loop (PLL).A frequency divider module produces a 50% duty cycle divided local oscillation and a 50% duty cycle divided reference signal, wherein the divided signals are substantially equal. A period-to-voltage conversion module converts the divided local oscillation signal and the divided reference signal to voltages proportional to the divided signals. A comparator module produces a frequency adjustment signal based on a comparison of the proportional voltages and couples the frequency adjustment signal to a logic module which produces a frequency compensation signal based on the frequency adjustment signal. The frequency compensation signal functions to adjust the configuration of switched capacitors in a capacitor bank, coupled to the VCO tuned circuit, until the divided local oscillation signal is substantially equal to the divided reference signal.

Adaptive real-time methodology for optimizing energy-efficient computing

Dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) is an effective way to reduce energy and power consumption in microprocessor units. Current implementations of DVFS suffer from inaccurate modeling of power requirements and usage, and from inaccurate characterization of the relationships between the applicable variables. A system and method is proposed that adjusts CPU frequency and voltage based on run-time calculations of the workload processing time, as well as a calculation of performance sensitivity with respect to CPU frequency. The system and method are processor independent, and can be applied to either an entire system as a unit, or individually to each process running on a system.
