A method, system, and program for managing escalating resource needs within a grid environment are provided. A job is submitted into a first selection of resources in a grid environment from among a hierarchy of discrete sets of resources accessible in the grid environment. Discrete sets of resources may include locally accessible resources, enterprise accessible resources, capacity on demand resources, and grid resources. The performance of the first selection of resources is monitored and compared with a required performance level for the job. If the required performance level is not met, then the discrete sets of resources are queried for available resources to meet the required performance level in an order designated by said hierarchy. Available resources in a next discrete set of resource from the hierarchy of discrete sets of resources are added to a virtual organization of resources handling the job within the grid environment. In particular, the virtual organization of resources may include the first selection of resources and the added resources which are distributed across heterogeneous systems. If capacity on demand resources are allocated and added to the virtual organization, then the capacity on demand resources are deallocated when no longer needed.

A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program product for creating a labor standard for a task. The process automatically detects event data derived from a continuous video stream, wherein the event data comprises metadata describing a sequence of motions for performing the task, and parses the event data to identify appropriate event data describing a discrete set of motions from the sequence of motions. The process then analyzes, using an analysis server, the discrete set of motions to form a labor standard, wherein the labor standard specifies an optimal manner of performing the discrete set of motions. Thereafter, the process generates a set of recommendations for performing the task efficiently according to the labor standard.

Processing synthetic aperture radar images for ship detection

Systems and methods relating to SAR image processing and object detection within a SAR image. A sea clutter model in which the texture random variable is drawn from a finite and discrete set of values is used in the processing of SAR derived images. SAR images are divided into sub-images, each sub-image being processed in turn. A statistical test is applied to each sub-image to determine whether it contains pixels representing only non-clutter information. The statistical test is based on the sea-clutter model, parameters of which are derived and adapted from each sub-image. The model is designed such that it will not permit more than a pre-determined number of false alarms. Pixels in each sub-image with information other than clutter are clustered, according to proximity, into object detections. Detections from all sub-images are combined to provide global object detection and to group clusters that may have split across sub-image boundaries.

The invention relates to an FPGA (mixed random space voltage vector pulse width modulation method) and a modulator based on a field programmable gate array. According to the method, action time and pulse and pulse positioning of a basic voltage sector are controlled by two random variables, one of the two random variables is used for controlling the action time of the basic voltage vector by controlling distribution proportion of action time of two zero vectors, and the other random variable is used for performing pulse positioning by controlling the position of the widest high-level pulse. The modulator comprises a period register, a dead zone register, two groups of hop time registers, a counting and initial value reloading circuit, a register switching circuit and a pulse generation circuit, and an asymmetrical control pulse is generated through alternative comparison of the two groups of hop time registers. By the modulation method and the modulator, mechanical vibration, audio-frequency noise, electromagnetic radiation and the like due to a large peak value of a discrete set cluster spectrum are obviously avoided on the premise that fundamental wave voltage and switching frequency do not change.
