Haplotype analysis

The present invention provides an efficient way for high throughput haplotype analysis. Several polymorphic nucleic add markers, such as SNPs, can be simultaneously and reliably determined through multiplex PCR of single nucleic acid molecules in several parallel single molecule dilutions and the consequent statistical analysis of the results from these parallel single molecule multiplex PCR reactions results in reliable determination of haplotypes present in the subject. The nucleic acid markers can be of any distance to each other on the chromosome. In addition, an approach wherein overlapping DNA markers are analyzed can be used to link smaller haplotypes into larger haplotypes. Consequently, the invention provides a powerful new tool for diagnostic haplotyping and identifying novel haplotypes.

Upon receiving an acknowledgement after retransmission of a data segment, an acknowledgement number contained in the acknowledgement is compared with an acknowledgment number expected to be contained in an acknowledgement pertaining to the retransmitted data segment. When the former is larger than the latter, it is determined that the acknowledgement pertains to a data segment that was originally transmitted.

On-line monitoring methods for high-voltage circuit-breaker switching on-off time

The present invention relates to a method of monitoring the gate opening and closing time on line by a high-voltage circuit breaker. The inception time for the breaker gate opening and closing coil with electricity can be obtained through the voltage telecommand sampling of the breaker gate opening and closing coil, the time for the separation and connection of breaker head can be obtained through three-phase voltage telecommand sampling of capacitance sensor of high-voltage electricity-carrying display device that is arranged on the electric power transmission lines. The time gap between the inception time of breaker gat closing coil with electricity and the finish time of separation of breaker head is calculated, then the gate opening time is worked out; the time gap between the inception time of breaker gate closing coil with electricity and the finish time of jointing of breaker head is calculated, then the gate closing time is worked out. The method of the present invention bases on the telecommand sampling of voltage signal; brings the operating facilities of electric power system into full play; and overcomes the shortcomings of previous online monitoring methods; thereby making the verification of time point more conveniently and accurately, and reducing the cost, thus being favorable for the realization of state repairing of the breaker.

Method for automatically determining rescue path of expressway network

The invention discloses a method for automatically determining a rescue path of an expressway network. The method comprises the following steps of: 1, after a traffic accident, acquiring information of an accident site, information of peripheral emergency rescue points and information of a road network; 2, searching a path which has the shortest distance from a peripheral rescue point to an accident point and serves as an initial backup rescue path from the expressway network according to the position of the accident point and the position of the peripheral rescue point; and 3, determining a traffic stream direction influenced by the traffic accident according to lane occupied positions and traffic stream directions of the occupied lanes on the accident site, and acquiring a road condition of the accident site, the number of jammed lanes of the accident site and the position of the accident point. By the method, a rescue path decision scheme in the expressway network of emergency resources can be generated automatically, so that the emergency resources can be transported to the accident site immediately, the emergency rescue efficiency can be improved, and casualties and property loss can be reduced.

Apparatus and method of metering and transfer of cryogenic liquids

An apparatus and method for efficiently metering and transferring a cryogenic liquid, such as liquefied natural gas, from a storage vessel to, for example, a vehicle fuel tank. The apparatus incorporates a programmable controller, a motor-driven pump and a network of conduits with motor-operated valves and liquid sensors for effecting a priming of the pump with liquid free of vapor and a cool-down of the flow passages prior to a transfer operation for ensuring that a vapor-free liquid is delivered. A pair of flow meters, one for liquid and the other for returned vapor, allows a reliable determination of the amount of liquid delivered to-and remaining in-a receiving vessel. The apparatus employs a delivery nozzle with quick-disconnect valved fittings and a delivery nozzle incorporating features which allow it to be handled by an operator without the use of heavy gloves. The method of transferring a cryogenic liquid employs an operating sequence with programmed time delays for ensuring that the liquid pump is properly primed and that the transfer apparatus is cooled down before liquid transfer begins.

Method of Determining Reflections of Light

A method of filtering glints by processing an image of a user's cornea to obtain coordinates of desired glints from a configuration of light sources, comprising processing an image, in a first image space, of a user's cornea to determine coordinates of respective multiple positions of glints; and iteratively: selecting from the coordinates a first and a second set of coordinates; computing from the first set of coordinates a transformation that transforms the first set of coordinates into first coordinates of a predetermined spatial configuration; and testing whether the transformation transforms also the second set into positions that match second positions of the predetermined configuration. The coordinates of the desired glints are selected as those first and second sets which are transformed into coordinates that match the first and second coordinates of the predetermined configuration. The method is based on a geometrical homography and is expedient for robust gaze estimation in connection with e.g. eye tracking.

An apparatus and method for recognizing presence of an object is provided, the apparatus and method are mounted on or implemented a vehicle. In the apparatus and method, by scanning a beam-shaped electromagnetic wave, data showing reflection intensities of reflected waves and distances between the vehicle and objects outside the vehicle are obtained. Based on the detected data, characteristics presented by frequency distributions of the distances and intensity frequency distributions of the refection intensities obtained in multiple rows in a field of view in the height direction of the vehicle. The characteristics depend on an angle of the electromagnetic wave to a road on which the vehicle travels. It is determined that the characteristics are obtained from the road when the characteristics meet predetermined requirements.

Packet transmission acknowledgement in wireless communication system

Transmitting an acknowledgement / negative acknowledgement (ACK / NACK) signal in association with a packet transmitted on an uplink is disclosed. The method includes the steps of receiving a packet transmitted from a user equipment, decoding the packet, and determining whether the packet has been successfully decoded, transmitting an ACK signal or a NACK signal, based on the decoding result. Different transmission powers are allocated for the ACK signal and the NACK signal. Alternatively, the transmission power for the NACK signal selectively has an OFF level. The present invention optimizes the transmission powers for downlink ACK / NACK signals in accordance with the required reception quality of each of the ACK / NACK signals, and thus, enables the system to operate efficiently.
