Method and apparatus for generating a low tar, renewable fuel gas from biomass and using it in other energy conversion devices, many of which were designed for use with gaseous and liquid fossil fuels. An automated, downdraft gasifier incorporates extensive air injection into the char bed to maintain the conditions that promote the destruction of residual tars. The resulting fuel gas and entrained char and ash are cooled in a special heat exchanger, and then continuously cleaned in a filter prior to usage in standalone as well as networked power systems.

A reversible, self-contained cooking appliance. A heating plate is suspended between first and second insulating end stands. The heating plate has first and second cooking surfaces on opposite sides thereof and includes an integral heater. The end stands support the heating plate for cooking in a first orientation. A gutter guard for mounting on a gutter. The gutter guard comprises an elongated panel extending laterally from an inner portion to an outer portion of an underlying gutter. An apparatus for mixing an additive into a fluid to form a settable mixture includes a main fluid passageway having an inlet for receiving a supply of the fluid and an outlet for dispensing the fluid, the passageway having a longitudinal axis. The apparatus includes a control valve defining a portion of the main fluid passageway and configured for selectively controlling the flow of fluid in the passageway, an additive injector disposed in the passageway and having an emitter disposed in close relationship with the axis and oriented toward the outlet.
