Antifungal composition, method and kit for topically treating onychomycosis

An activator comprising a biocompatible base and a known fungicide in the form of an acid salt are mixed together by the user shortly before being applied to the infection so as to react them chemically to produce the free base of the fungicide thereby rendering the composition capable of penetrating throughout the infected tissue. The free base form has been found to be much more lethal to the fungal infection, particularly in the treatment of onychomycosis. The activator is formulated to be mixed within a few days of or just before application with the fungicide, e.g., terbinafine hydrochloride (an acid salt). Although the free base is subject to degradation and has a shorter shelf life, it was found that mixing just prior to use eliminates problems that could be caused by degradation of an active ingredient. A preferred activator solution also contains a penetration enhancer and a tissue softener.

Methods and kits for for locking and and disinfecting implanted catheters

InactiveUS20020082582A1Reduce riskInhibiting fouling and plugging of the lumenInfusion devicesMedical devicesCvd riskThrombus
Implanted catheters are locked with a solution comprising a lower alcohol, typically ethanol, propanol, or butanol, most preferably isopropanol. The use of an alcohol can both reduce fouling of the catheter, particularly clotting and thrombus in intravascular catheters, as well as reducing the risk of infection. The risk of infection can be further reduced by employing a catheter body which is sufficiently porous to permit the lower alcohol or other anti-microbial solution to penetrate into the catheter body and preferably through the catheter into tissue surrounding the implanted catheter.

A granular material employed as a fungicide or a fertilizer or both, comprising phosphorous acid (H3PO3) or phosphite (which may include HPO3), along with a metal and phosphate on a granular carrier; or a mixture of a phosphite product and a phosphate product on a granular carrier; or mixture of a metal phosphite product and phosphate on a granular carrier. The mixture may contain a chelated metal on a granular carrier. Another mixture includes a phosphite product on a first granular carrier, and a phosphate product on a second granular carrier wherein the two are mixed and the phosphite product and the phosphate product may or may not include a metal ion. Alternatively the mixture may also contain a chelated metal on a third granular carrier. The compositions herein are preferably equipped with a time release mechanism.

Tumourolytic anticancer recombined adenovirus with tumour target direction and idioctonia

The invention offers two sets of tumor-dissolving recombination adenovirus. One set is produced by rite-directed mutagenesis in virus E1A gene. The other set produced by replacing E1A promoter with tumor specificity promoter. The fiber end of parts of the recombination adenovirus is added RGD short peptide. And parts of are carried HSV1-tkm. It is proved by experiment that the two sets of virus can strongly infect tumor cell, do a great deal replication and breeding, and finally dissolve cell. The released filial generation adenovirus can infect around tumor cell again. Thus dosage effect and against cancer capability of virus gene can be enlarged by breeding infecting cycle. The tow sets of tumor-dissolving recombination adenovirus appearances strong against cancer effect in animal subcutaneous, human liver and lung tumor model test.

Unauthorized access program monitoring method, unauthorized access program detecting apparatus, and unauthorized access program control apparatus

The apparatus analyzes management information about network information collected from a computer and a router, detects a change in the management information specific to the activity of an unauthorized access program (worm), and generates alert information including a type of apparatus whose collected management information indicates the detected change and address information about an apparatus suspected of performing the activity of a worm. When the type of apparatus in the alert information refers to a computer, the apparatus generates an instruction to delete relayed information for the computer. When the type of apparatus refers to a network connection apparatus, the apparatus generates an instruction to set a filter for cutting off the communications of a worm with the network connection apparatus. Thus, the apparatus transmits the instructions.
