System and method for voicemail message certification and reply using a temporary voicemail service

This invention is directed to a system and method for providing a status certification for a voicemail message in a telecommunications network. An embodiment of this invention comprises a voicemail system, which provides a caller in a telecommunications network with the option of certifying a voicemail message when the recording of the message is complete. By certifying the voicemail message, the caller is directing the voicemail system to create a temporary voicemail box and to track any actions related to the message that message that occur within the voicemail system. As changes occur, the voicemail system creates one or more status messages in the temporary voicemail box. If the recipient replies to the messages, the voicemail system also stores the reply in the temporary voicemail box. When a caller subsequently accesses the temporary voicemail box, the caller can access the messages and can also reply to any of the messages. The voicemail system stores the caller's reply in the original recipient's voicemail box.

Concentrated sulfuric acid hydrolysis of lignocellulosics

A process, system, and apparatus for effectively and economically producing fermentable sugars from cellulosic feedstocks is described. The economic viability of using wood and / or agricultural waste, containing large fractions of cellulose and hemicellulose is highly dependent on the method used for hydrolysis. Underlying the gist of this invention are newly discovered methods, means, and techniques by which both the pentosans and hexosans comprising the hemicellulose fraction of the selected feedstock and the hexosans comprising the cellulose fraction of the selected feedstock can be quickly and efficiently converted in a single pass through a single device to fermentable sugars containing minimal quantities of degradation products known to inhibit fermentation. Successful operation of this new hydrolysis process employing a new reactor design can produce fermentable sugars at rates and efficiencies previously thought unattainable by reducing the number of processing steps, pieces of equipment, and unit operation previously used.

One-piece ram element block for wireline blowout preventers

InactiveUS6394460B1Eliminates potentialSimplifies and minimizes cost of manufactureSealing/packingElastomerWeb structure
Ram seal units for attachment to the rams of blowout preventers incorporate an integral ram seal block having a central web, with a parallel rectangular elastomer support plates extending from opposite sides of the integral ram seal block. The central web is perforate to permit its interlocked relation with elastomer sealing material that is molded to ram seal block. The generally rectangular elastomer support plates define outer face surfaces that remain exposed after the molding operation has been completed. These outer face surfaces of the elastomer support plates are adapted to be disposed in intimate face-to-face relation with internal wall surfaces of ram seal receptacles that are provided within BOP ram elements. Each of the rectangular elastomer support plates defines a pair of spaced retainer receptacles which receive a respective retainer element of a BOP ram to secure the ram seal units in retained relation within one of the ram seal receptacles of a BOP ram element. When so supported, the elastomer sealing material located between the generally rectangular elastomer support plates and encapsulating the central web structure of each integral ram seal block, will be presented for sealing contact with its opposed counterpart of the opposed BOP ram element and with the wireline that is present within the body of the BOP unit.

Combined cycle with steam cooled gas turbine

In a method of operating a combined cycle system including a gas turbine, a steam turbine and a multi-pressure heat recovery steam generator, an improvement includes supplying gas turbine cooling duty steam from a high pressure section of the steam turbine and from an intermediate pressure evaporator in the multi-pressure heat recovery steam generator, conducting the gas turbine cooling duty steam to the gas turbine for cooling hot gas turbine parts, and then returning the gas turbine cooling duty steam to an intermediate pressure section of the steam turbine. In a start-up procedure, steam is extracted from a first pass of a high pressure superheater in the multi-pressure heat recovery steam generator, mixed with steam discharged from the high pressure superheater and then supplied to the gas turbine cooling duty system. In this same start-up procedure, the gas turbine cooling duty steam is returned to the system condenser, bypassing the intermediate pressure section of the steam turbine. Related apparatus is also disclosed.

Flow meter with magnetoresistive sensors and method of measuring flow

A variable area flow meter has a magnet carried by a piston which is moved to a position representing fluid flow. An array of magnetoresistive bridge sensors adjacent the path of magnet movement senses the magnet position. The bridges are unbalanced by the magnet field. The analog unbalance signals are read and processed in digital form to develop a flow signal. The flow meter circuits are powered from a 4–20 MA current loop or a remote power supply. Each bridge sensor is powered only when the bridge unbalance signal is being read, to minimize the power requirement.

High confidence in positive status determination

Systems, methods, and apparatus for determining whether a culture in a vessel contains a plurality of microorganisms are provided. A normalization relative value is calculated for each respective measurement of a biological state of the culture between (i) the respective measurement and (ii) an initial biological state. For each fixed interval of time points, a derivative of the normalization relative values in the interval of time points is calculated, thereby forming a plurality of rate transformation values. For each set of rate transformation values in the plurality of rate transformation values, a measure of central tendency of the values in the set is computed, thereby forming a plurality of average relative transformation values. A determination whether the culture contains the microorganisms is made based on whether any calculated average relative transformation value exceeds a first threshold or whether an extent of growth exhibited by the culture exceeds a second threshold.

Wafer container with sealable door

A wafer container including an enclosure portion with a door frame defining an opening for insertion and removal of wafers and a door fittable in the door frame to seal the enclosure portion. A continuous elastomeric seal extends around the door inward of the periphery. The seal is positioned on a sealing surface proximate the perimeter of the door and may be partially inset in a radial groove in the door. In cross-section, the elastomeric seal has an inset portion and a sealing head coupled by a bridging portion. The sealing head has a foot portion projecting from the bridging portion toward the sealing surface of the door, and a head portion extending in a direction generally opposite the foot relative to the bridging portion. The door frame has a seal engaging structure so that when the door is seated in the door frame, the bridging portion of the elastomeric seal contacts the seal engaging structure displacing the bridging portion axially toward the sealing surface and causing the head of the sealing head to rotate radially and contact the seal engaging structure. The displacement action also affirmatively sets the foot of the sealing head in contact with the sealing surface of the door.
