Band-engineered multi-gated non-volatile memory device with enhanced attributes

Non-volatile memory devices and arrays are described that facilitate the use of band-gap engineered gate stacks with asymmetric tunnel barriers in floating gate memory cells in NOR or NAND memory architectures that allow for direct tunneling programming and erase with electrons and holes, while maintaining high charge blocking barriers and deep carrier trapping sites for good charge retention. The direct tunneling program and erase capability reduces damage to the gate stack and the crystal lattice from high energy carriers, reducing write fatigue and leakage issues and enhancing device lifespan. Memory cells of the present invention also allow multiple bit storage in a single memory cell, and allow for programming and erase with reduced voltages. A positive voltage erase process via hole tunneling is also provided.

Non-volatile memory control device capable of recovering data even when data writing is interrupted

A free page extracting unit extracts a free page of a non-volatile memory. A directory page writing unit writes, to the free page extracted by the free page extracting unit, a directory that includes a logical page / physical page translation table of a page to which updated data are to be written. Further, a data page writing unit writes updated data to the free page extracted by the free page extracting unit. Therefore, even when data updating operation is interrupted, loss of the original data can be prevented, and the data before updating can be recovered.

Anti-copying system for audio signals

In order to protect audio signals against copying, it is proposed to mix the audio signal with at least one non-audible disturbance signal. A first disturbance signal may be a low-frequency signal which is added to the audio signal, while a second disturbance signal may be a high-frequency disturbance signal which is multiplied with the audio signal. Additionally, the second disturbance signal may be modulated by a modulating signal comprising either the original or inverted original signal, or spoken messages indicative of an illegal copy.

Data erasure apparatus, data erasure method and method for writing servo patterns on recording disk

Embodiments of the invention prevent a spindle motor from stopping rotation while data on a magnetic disk is being erased by using a permanent magnet. In one embodiment, data in the whole area of the magnetic disk is erased as a consequence of the magnetic disk rotating in the magnetic field of the permanent magnet located so as to face a part of the magnetic disk. A back yoke is located so as to face a base. The back yoke gives a magnetic force to the spindle motor in the opposite direction of the magnetic force of the erasing permanent magnet so that the fluid dynamic bearing spindle motor can retain the rotation as required without stopping rotation.

Nonvolatile semiconductor storage device with limited consumption current during erasure and erase method therefor

A nonvolatile semiconductor storage device includes a row decoder which independently controls a plurality of row select line groups. A negative voltage generated by a debooster circuit is applied to individual row select line groups with time shifts. As a result, peaks of erase current can be suppressed, so that consumption current can be reduced. In this device, a current limiting circuit of the booster circuit limits the consumption current of the booster circuit, allowing voltages to be generated within a range under a specified current value according to the conditions of voltage application to the individual row select line groups. Thus, a further reduction of the consumption current at a shorter scale can be achieved.

Apparatus for and method of erasing residual radiation image

A stored quantity calculator calculates the quantity of radiation energy stored in each of divided areas of a stimulable phosphor panel. Erasing energy set to a level depending on the calculated quantity of radiation energy stored in each of the areas is applied from an erasing unit to the stimulable phosphor panel. Therefore, a residual radiation image remaining in the stimulable phosphor panel is efficiently erased with a required minimum level of erasing energy.

Apparatus for and method of reading and erasing radiation image information

After a housing of a cassette is opened by a suction cup, then a stimulable phosphor sheet is removed from the cassette by a shiftable roller and then fed in an auxiliary scanning direction by a feed mechanism. While being fed in the auxiliary scanning direction, the stimulable phosphor sheet is irradiated with a laser beam emitted from a stimulating optical system. Light emitted from the stimulable phosphor sheet upon exposure to the laser beam is guided through a light guide to a photoelectric transducer. After the recorded radiation image information is read from the stimulable phosphor sheet, the stimulable phosphor sheet is stored back into the cassette, and erasing light from erasing light sources is applied to the stimulable phosphor sheet in the cassette to erase remaining radiation image information from the stimulable phosphor sheet.

Service induced privacy with synchronized noise insertion

A mechanism is disclosed for protecting the privacy of communication content by means of a synchronized noise insertion process operated by counterpart sending and receiving devices. In send mode, a synchronized noise pattern is introduced by a sending device onto a source content, rendering the source content unreadable (or at least partially obfuscating the source content so as to inhibit interception of the content); and in receive mode, a corresponding pattern is introduced 180-degrees out of phase so as to effectively subtract the synchronized noise pattern and yield the original source content. In such manner, communication privacy is achievable without encrypting, encoding or transforming the source content at the sending or receiving device.
