The present invention is directed to a system, method and computer program for automatically extracting and mining relations and related entities from unstructured text. A method in accordance with an embodiment of the invention includes: extracting relations and related entities from unstructured text data, representing the extracted information into a graph, and manipulating the resulting graph to gain more insight into the information it contains. The extraction of relations and related entities is performed first by automatically inducting pattern and second by applying these induced patterns to unstructured text data. For each relation and entity, several features are extracted in order to build a graph whose nodes are entities and edges are relations.

Scleral depressor

A scleral depressor designed to better control the globe of the eye is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, the scleral depressor has a handle and a blade attached to the handle where the blade is a portion of an oblate spheroid. In one embodiment, the blade has an illuminating device. The handle is attached to the blade at an angle or straight in relation to the plane of the handle. In another embodiment, the blade is attached to a thimble. In another embodiment of the invention, the blade has an access hole for simultaneous use of other instruments during examination or surgery. The resulting apparatus has greatly improved control of the eye, effective visualization of the periphery, ease of use for the examiner, and increased comfort for the patient.

Apparatus and method for determining wavelength from coarse and fine measurements

The present invention provides an apparatus for determining a wavelength of an optical signal by determining a coarse wavelength response and a fine wavelength response. A suitable detector detects the wavelength-dependent response and conveys the determined coarse wavelength response to the processing logic. The fine wavelength response is achieved by utilizing an interferometer that is capable of generating an interference pattern. The intensity responses are conveyed to a unit that determines the fine wavelength response. Finally, the processing logic determines the wavelength utilizing the determined coarse wavelength response and the determined fine wavelength response.
