When the contents of the write request are the log information, position information indicated in the log information is converted into physical position information in a primary storage system using a conversion table indicating a correspondence between logical position information recognized by the host computer and physical position information in the primary storage system. According to the contents of the log information, data is updated in a database area of the primary storage system represented by the physical position information converted using the conversion table. The access request is sent to a secondary storage system.

A method for generating a presentation of a region-of-interest in an information representation including the steps of: selecting a viewpoint for the region-of-interest; creating a lens surface for the region-of-interest; the lens surface having a focal region and a shoulder region surrounding the focal region; creating a transformed presentation by: determining boundaries in the representation for the focal region and the shoulder region; determining boundaries on the lens surface corresponding to the boundaries in the representation by applying a distortion function defining the lens surface to the boundaries in the representation; perspectively projecting the boundaries on the lens surface onto a plane spaced from the viewpoint; and, copying information in the representation lying within the boundaries in the representation onto the focal region and the shoulder region of the lens surface using respective focal region and shoulder region stretch bit-block transfer operations; and, displaying the transformed presentation on a display screen to generate the presentation of the region-of-interest.

A method of mapping data items to sparse distributed representations (SDRs) includes clustering in a two-dimensional metric space, by a reference map generator, a set of data documents selected according to at least one criterion, generating a semantic map. The semantic map associates a coordinate pair with each of the set of data documents. A parser generates an enumeration of data items occurring in the set of data documents. A representation generator determines, for each data item in the enumeration, occurrence information. The representation generator generates a distributed representation using the occurrence information. A sparsifying module receives an identification of a maximum level of sparsity. The sparsifying module reduces a total number of set bits within the distributed representation based on the maximum level of sparsity to generate an SDR having a normative fillgrade.

The invention discloses a resource allocation information representation method which comprises the following steps: all the available subcarriers are divided into at least one resource block; all the available subcarriers are divided into at least one resource group, wherein, each resource group comprises at least one resource block; relevant information of the resource group which is allocated to a target user is represented by a bitmap representation method, and the allocation conditions of the resource block in the resource group are represented by the bitmap representation method or the combination of the number of the allocated continuous resource blocks and the starting positions of the allocated continuous resource blocks, or the resource allocation conditions of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system are represented by a high-granularity resource block bitmap representation method. By using the bitmap method of different granularities and the method for obtaining the combination representation of continuous RB quantity and the starting positions of the continuous RB in the group, the invention reduces the signaling overhead and simultaneously ensures a more flexible resource scheduling.

The playback apparatus 400 comprises: the playback processing unit 412 operable to control the execution of the application program; the network IF unit 419 operable to obtain, from an external server including therein one or more alternative data groups, an alternative data group to replace part of the data groups; and the HDD unit 418 that stores therein correspondence information showing a correspondence between a storage location where on an internal recording medium the alternative data group is stored and a storage location where on the external recording medium the part of the data groups to be replaced. Here, at a time when the application program in execution reads a data group being referred to, the playback processing unit 412 (i) judges based on the correspondence information whether an alternative data group for replacing the data group being referred to exists on the internal recording medium, and (ii) specifies, as a data retrieve destination, a storage location of the alternative data group indicated by the correspondence information when the judgment is affirmative.
