2458 results about "Data selection" patented technology

Data selection is defined as the process of determining the appropriate data type and source, as well as suitable instruments to collect data. Data selection precedes the actual practice of data collection.

Media organizer and entertainment center

A media organizer and entertainment center includes an importer for importing individual media / data selections and automatically assigning each selection at least one associated category flag pursuant to predetermined or user defined criteria. The center also includes a storage device for storing compressed data corresponding to the plurality of individual media / data selections and the associated category flags and a retriever for retrieving selections from the storage device based upon user selection of one or more of the associated category flags, and a data decompresser that translates the compressed data into playable digital or audio media data. With the center, playable digital or audio media data can be advantageously transported, organized, played or recorded through or on a variety of products or devices.

Adaptive metablocks

In a memory system having multiple erase blocks in multiple planes, a selected number of erase blocks are programmed together as an adaptive metablock. The number of erase blocks in an adaptive metablock is chosen according to the data to be programmed. Logical address space is divided into logical groups, a logical group having the same size as one erase block. Adaptive logical blocks are formed from logical groups. One adaptive logical block is stored in one adaptive metablock.

Displacement detection apparatus

The present invention provides a displacement detection apparatus uses short scales and can provide a long measurable range comparable to a single long scale with a short bed length. The displacement detection apparatus includes a scale, a first head and a second head adapted to detect periodic analog signals of a plurality of different types, a first processing section and a second processing section that detects the first differential value and the second differential value between the immediately preceding positional data and the current positional data obtained by sampling the periodic analog signals of a plurality of different types, a switching section that selectively switches from the first differential value to the second differential value or vice versa, a scale position detection section that detects the scale getting to a predetermined position relative to the first head or a predetermined position relative to the second head, a switching control section that causes the switching section to switch from either of the differential values to the other in response to the detection of the scale getting to the predetermined position, and an addition section that adds the first differential value or the second differential value selectively switched by the switching control section and outputting it as positional information.

Systems and methods for mobile automated clearing house enrollment

Systems and methods for mobile enrollment in automated clearing house (ACH) transactions using mobile-captured images of financial documents are provided. Applications running on a mobile device provide for the capture and processing of images of documents needed for enrollment in an ACH transaction, such as a blank check, remittance statement and driver's license. Data from the mobile-captured images that is needed for enrolling in ACH transactions is extracted from the processed images, such as a user's name, address, bank account number and bank routing number. The user can edit the extracted data, select the type of document that is being captured, authorize the creation of an ACH transaction and select an originator of the ACH transaction. The extracted data and originator information is transmitted to a remote server along with the user's authorization so the ACH transaction can be setup between the originator's and receiver's bank accounts.

Patient and device location dependent healthcare information processing system

A system automatically establishes context information (e.g., determining changes to user interface workflows, screens, menus, and access requirements for devices such as monitors, ventilators, and diagnostic equipment) used by a worker in using healthcare information applications based on patient geographic location (e.g., a room or bed or department). The system addresses the need for a user to sign onto a system with each location change and manually change context information which consumes computer, server and network resources and represent a potential security problem. A healthcare system selects information to be provided to a user in response to received location dependent context data. The system includes a proximity detector for wirelessly detecting presence of an identification tag substantially within a predetermined vicinity of the detector. The identification tag is associated with at least one of, (a) a particular processing device and (b) a particular person. A location detector determines location information indicating a location associated with an identification tag detected by the proximity detector. A workflow processor automatically alters information presented to a user including information associated with a task sequence to be performed by the user for a patient in response to the determined location information.

Computer Input Device

A device (1) for data entry into an electronic device such as a computer, personal digital assistant (PDA) or mobile phone is provided, comprising thumb and finger touch pads (5,3), arranged on the device in a pattern corresponding to the natural thumb and finger tip positions of the thumb and fingers when relaxed; each finger pad (3) extending in backward and forward directions; the thumb pad (5) extending in left and right directions; position detecting means to detect the position of the thumb and each finger tip along each of the thumb and finger pads (5,3); finger data selection means to select for each finger a character or instruction corresponding to the detected position of a finger tip when in contact with a finger pad (3); thumb option selection means to select an option corresponding to the detected position of the thumb when in contact with the thumb pad (5); selection display means to display the character or instruction selected on each finger pad (3) according to the option selected on the thumb pad (5); and data entry detecting means to detect lifting of a finger from a finger pad (3) and enter a character or instruction into the electronic device based on the character or instruction selected on the finger pad (3) for which lifting is detected and based on the option selected on the thumb pad (5). Instead of touch pads, pressure cups can be used.
