A gas pressure-reducing valve includes a pressure-reducing chamber for generating a gas pressure that acts on one surface of a diaphragm, a valve body that can sit on a valve seat having in its central part a valve hole communicating with the pressure-reducing chamber, and a spring biasing the diaphragm in a direction that detaches the valve body from the valve seat. A valve housing is formed by conjoining a body, a partition, and a cover. The partition forms the pressure-reducing chamber between itself and the body and forms a pressure action chamber between itself and the diaphragm. The cover forms the spring chamber between itself and the other surface of the diaphragm and has the peripheral edge of the diaphragm clamped between itself and the partition. The partition has a through hole for allowing the valve stem to run through in an airtight and axially slidable manner and a communicating hole for providing communication between the pressure action chamber and the pressure-reducing chamber. The structure of the body can thus be simplified thereby enhancing the machining precision, and the diameter of the pressure-reducing chamber can be determined regardless of the diameter of the diaphragm.

When the vehicle is started forward when a failure has occurred, by controlling the engagement force of the first clutch on the basis of the rotational rate of the engine and the ratio of the toroidal type continuously variable transmission and controlling the engagement force of the second clutch on the basis of the rotational rate of the engine while the second clutch is connected to the carrier by the shifter, it is possible to prevent the ratio of the toroidal type continuously variable transmission from changing beyond the LOW ratio or the OD ratio and generating an excessive load.

Device and method for determining step-out of synchronous motor

The expected power to be output from a synchronous motor is obtained based on a torque command value and revolution speed of the motor. Meanwhile electric power consumption is detected based on voltage and current actually applied to the motor. If a parameter derived from a deviation or a ratio of the two exceeds a predetermined threshold value, it is determined that step-out has occurred. When using the deviation of the expected power from the electric power consumption as the parameter, the threshold value is determined in relation to the torque command value and the revolution speed. When using the ratio of the expected power and the electric power consumption as the parameter, the threshold value is set in relation to the revolution speed. This enables step-out to be accurately determined with an extremely light computational load.
