Each service request type is associated with a service index that determines both a super group and a load balancing policy for that service request type. Another load balancing policy is applied to the selected group of servers to select a server to handle the service request. The hierarchical data structure allows servers to be configured into overlappable, arbitrary subsets that can address service requests matching configured content rules. Clients register for notification of one or more types of events with a registration mechanism, and a System Event Notification Service, (SENS), receives system event information and fires event notifications in response thereto. A distribution mechanism selectively communicates the fired event to each client registered for notification thereof based on the type of event. Events include network events, for which the service monitors the connectivity state of the machine, including whether a connection is established or lost, the type of connection (LAN / WAN) and bandwidth information. In one illustrative example, one or more base station transceiver systems are identified for communication with the mobile station through a scanning process. A first base station transceiver system is identified as providing a Third Generation (3G) communication service or better, whereas a second base station transceiver system is identified as failing to provide the 3G or better communication service (e.g. it may provide a Second Generation (2G) communication service). The first system is selected for communication over the second system based at least in part on identifying that the second system fails to provide the 3G or better communication service. For example, the first system may be chosen over the second system if the first system has a signal quality that is better than a minimum threshold, even if its signal quality is worse than that of the second system. Advantageously, even if an available 2G system has a better signal quality, preference for an adequate 3G or better system is given to ensure that a preferred data service is made available to the mobile station.

A system and method for determining whether a packed executable is malware is presented. In operation, a malware evaluator intercepts incoming data directed to a computer. The malware evaluator evaluates the incoming data to determine whether the incoming data is a packed executable. If the incoming data is a packed executable, the malware evaluator passes the packed executable to an unpacking module. The unpacking module includes a set of unpacker modules for unpacking a packed executable of a particular type. The unpacking module selects an unpacker module according to the type of the packed executable, and executes the selected unpacker module. Executing the unpacker module generates an unpacked executable corresponding to the packed executable. The unpacked executable is returned to the malware evaluator where it is evaluated to determine whether the packed executable is malware.

A method and structure for configuring a programmable logic device (PLD) from a serial peripheral interface (SPI) based serial memory. The type of the SPI memory is initially identified by the PLD. If stream switching is desired, the switching track group information is found via the track relation box. In multicast applications with scalable or MDC streams, the tracks in a layered or MDC group are found via the track relation box and selected among all the layered or MDC groups.
