Trust-linked debit card technology

InactiveUS20070118449A1Large returnFinanceInternet privacyBank account
A revenue-producing debit card system and method for users who have bank accounts includes a trust account and plural debit cards. Each debit card is linked to a trust account that allows overnight balances to be invested at a profit for the benefit of the account holder. The system also includes a link between a bank account of a user, a debit card of the user, and the trust account, so that the debit card is linked to a bank account that is a pass-through, net zero balance bank account. The trust account includes a trust sub-account of the user, and the cash balance required to settle card transactions of the user is each time transferred from the trust sub-account of the user. The bank account of the system is used only to book a simultaneous debit and credit for the bank account each time the debit card is used by the user at a remote merchant location, and to report card activity usage. The method also creates a legal structure (e.g. a trust) in which the debit card user is a beneficiary and the user's ownership interest in the trust is evidenced by issuance and delivery of a floating trust-participation receipt. The user's beneficial interest in the trust fluctuates as debits and credits are posted to the user's bank account. The user's percentage ownership in the trust is the pro-rata of his account balance at any point in time relative to the total amount of money in the trust.

Precise network time transfer

The invention comprises a method and apparatus for reducing uncertainty in timing on the network. The uncertainty in receive buffers is removed by time stamping the arriving packets before sending the packets to the receive buffer. The uncertainty in the transmission buffer is removed by giving the packets a timestamp in the future, and holding the packets until precisely that time. Time precision is ensured by only releasing time packets at the host physical layer to network boundary at the time specified within the packet.

Real time financial instrument image exchange system and method

A real time financial instrument image exchange system and method deliver a digital image of a financial instrument (for example, a bank check) very quickly through an image exchange network to a payor institution by promptly forwarding the digital image when it is created at a depositing institution. This may expedite pay or return decisions to be made by payor institutions, which may enable banks to truncate checks, to reduce fraud and its costs, and to facilitate compliance with banking regulations. Such image capture, as well as related data capture, and real-time transfer enable emulation to an item processing system of the payor institution whereby the payor's item processing system processes the image and data as if it did the original capture actually performed at the depositing institution.

A method and apparatus provide high-sensitivity GPS / GNSS signal acquisition in a stationary GPS / GNSS receiver. The uncertainty in frequency due to apparent Doppler shift is partitioned into a plurality of contiguous frequency bins, and the uncertainty in location of navigation data bit boundaries is partitioned into equally spaced trial bit boundary locations. For each combination of the trial bit boundary location and the frequency bin, a signal block of captured complex baseband signal is Doppler-compensated using a phase rotator, and then synchronously summed with a periodicity of one period of C / A code so as to produce a compressed sample block having N samples. Each compressed sample block is cross-correlated with one period of reference C / A code to produce an N-value correlation function. A predetermined number of magnitudes of the N-value correlation functions are stack-accumulated into an array with precession compensation so as to find a correlation peak having the largest value.

Method and system for performing DMA in a multi-core system-on-chip using deadline-based scheduling

A direct memory access (DMA) engine schedules data transfer requests of a system-on-chip data processing system according to both an assigned transfer priority and the deadline for completing a transfer. Transfer priority is based on a hardness representing the penalty for missing a deadline. Priorities are also assigned to zero-deadline transfer requests in which there is a penalty no matter how early the transfer completes. If desired, transfer requests may be scheduled in timeslices according to priority in order to bound the latency of lower priority requests, with the highest priority hard real-time transfers wherein the penalty for missing a deadline is severe are given the largest timeslice. Service requests for preparing a next data transfer are posted while a current transaction is in progress for maximum efficiency. Current transfers may be preempted whenever a higher urgency request is received.

Distributed two-step clock

The present invention generally relates to methods and apparatus for precision time transfer wherein the inherent packet delay variation and possible asymmetry introduced in networks is avoided or mitigated. In one embodiment, the timing functions of a master device may be placed closer to a slave device using a Remote Time-Stamp Generator, located in the network between the master and the slave, and whose time reference serves as a proxy for the time reference of the master. Time-of-traversal of packets at the remote time-stamp generator may be used as proxies for the time-of-departure and the time-of-arrival of certain messages at the master. Such proxy times may be used to synchronize the slave with the master, particularly if the master and the Remote Time-Stamp Generator are both synchronized with a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) source.

Methods and apparatuses for transferring data

The present invention provides several methods and apparatuses for transmitting multimedia data using streaming media protocols such as real-time transfer protocols (RTP) and real-time streaming protocols (RTSP) in a computer network environment. A request for RTP data is sent from the caching proxy server to the server. The request may be for one specific type of data or multiple unrelated types of data. The server responds to the request indicating its support for the requested data. The caching proxy server determines whether to proceed or terminate the data transmission process based on the response provided by the server. If it is determined to proceed with the data transmission process, the caching proxy informs the server to send the requested data. The server sends the requested data in a body of a RTP packet. The RTP packet uses a RTP Meta-Info payload format, which includes a body and a field header. The field header includes fields to identify the streaming media data, and the field body includes the requested streaming media data.
