41 results about "Process gain" patented technology

In a spread-spectrum system, the process gain (or "processing gain") is the ratio of the spread (or RF) bandwidth to the unspread (or baseband) bandwidth. It is usually expressed in decibels (dB). For example, if a 1 kHz signal is spread to 100 kHz, the process gain expressed as a numerical ratio would be 100000/1000 = 100. Or in decibels, 10 log₁₀(100) = 20 dB. Note that process gain does not reduce the effects of wideband thermal noise.

Method of forming directional wireless networks using in-band channels

The present invention is directed to a method of forming a mobile network using Phased Array Antennas. Mobile nodes search for nodes with which to form a network by either transmitting low level announcement signals on a wide spoiled beam directional antenna at progressively increasing power levels, or by receiving announcement signals using a high-gain, narrow directional beam. Low power announcements are compensated for by processing gain in the receive modem. Nodes randomly decide at each step of the scan whether to transmit or receive. Two control slots in an epoch are used for neighbor discovery. The first control slot is to announce or receive an announcement, and the second control slot is used to acknowledge the receipt of an announcement packet. The neighbor discovery process uses in-band communications. The directional communications permit simultaneous links in close proximity to other links without interference.

Computer resources access control apparatus and method

The present invention is directed to obtaining a correct processing result without an inexpedience such as a starvation by having a plurality of processes gain an access in parallel to a resource such as a VRAM. When one of a plurality of processing means requests an exclusive access to a portion of a resource, a lock range processing part 122 permits an exclusive access only when the process does not result in an inexpedience, for example, when other processing means is not permitted to gain an exclusive access to an overlapped portion. Further, the lock range processing part 122 inhibits permission of an exclusive access to other portion overlapping a portion and permits an exclusive access to such portion when the number of permissions of exclusive accesses to other portion overlapping this portion exceeds a given number while an exclusive access to such portion is not permitted. The lock range processing part 122 thus prevents a starvation from occurring by limiting the number of permissions of an exclusive access to other overlapping portion passing a portion which overlaps the other overlapping portion.

Method, transmitter and receiver for spread-spectrum digital communication by Golay complementary sequence modulation

The frequency spectrum of a transmitter system is spreaded in the transmitter (1) through the codification of information bits by means of sequence pairs of Golay complementary sequences. The spectrum is received in the receiver (2) and is subject to a filter, which is adapted to the features of such sequences enabling the detection of digital levels corresponding to the original transmitted information. If pairs of orthogonal sequences, A amplitudes for moduling data, and N-PSK modulation are used, it is possible to get a transmission speed (C) equal to:Where B is to the null-to-null spread bandwidth used in Hertz. It allows an improvement in quality as compared to other digital-communication systems, which use spread spectrum techniques and CDMA, obtaining a process gain independent of the transmission speed.

Radar pulse compression filter optimization design method applied to random signal waveforms

The invention discloses a radar pulse compression filter optimization design method applied to random signal waveforms. The method mainly solves the problem of pulse compression filter optimization design under constraint conditions of a main lobe width, processing gain loss and a sidelobe level. The radar pulse compression filter optimization design method includes the steps that firstly, new signal vectors are designed for radar transmitting signal waveforms and the filter length, and a signal matrix is established on the basis of the new signal vectors and is adjusted according to the pulse compression main lobe width at the same time; secondly, the allowable maximum processing gain loss is processed combined with pulse compression to form a constrained optimization equation; finally, the optimal filter coefficient under the constraint conditions is solved and obtained through a convex optimization tool. The optimal sidelobe level can be obtained under the conditions of the given pulse compression filter length, the main lobe width and the processing gain loss, meanwhile the method has the advantage of being irrelevant to signal modes, and the method is applied to signal pulse compression filter design of linear frequency modulation, phase encoding, frequency encoding and the like.

Random early detection over wireless links

Random early detection (RED) controlled loss (i.e., discarding data packets) is determined as a function of change in processing gain assigned by a resource management system in a data network having a communications link between first and second network nodes. Rather than triggering RED controlled loss as a function of buffer levels, triggering is determined as a function of change in processing gain caused by, for example, a change in code rate, modulation technique, error (e.g., bit error rate or frame error rate), signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) or carrier-to-interference (C / I) level, or a number of traffic code channels or TDMA slots assigned to the nodes. In a wireless data network, this technique may be deployed in a base station or access terminal. A tight coupling between the physical layer and link layer is provided using this technique.

Identification method for cross directional position correspondence and manufacturing equipment using this method for sheet form products

The present invention solves the quality control problems that exist in manufacturing equipment for sheet form products, that is, although the position correspondence between actuators and measuring points has been measured and switched for every raw material recipe, it takes a lot of time and effort and if the position correspondence shifts during machine operation, the position correspondence must be measured again by measuring step responses.According to the present invention, the position correspondence, interference width, and process gain of a process model are modified so that the deviation between the process model and the measured profile is minimized by inputting the manipulated variable of the actuators to the process model. This position correspondence is also set to a cross direction controller that outputs the manipulated variable. Since this enables the position correspondence to be modified in succession to the optimum value during machine operation, it prevents controllability from deteriorating even if the position correspondence shifts, thereby eliminating time and effort for measuring and switching position correspondences for each raw material recipe.
