Foldable propeller blade with locking mechanism

An unmanned aerial vehicle with deployable components (UAVDC) is disclosed. The UAVDC may comprise a fuselage, at least one wing, and at least one control surface. In some embodiments, the UAVDC may further comprise a propulsion means and/or a modular payload. The UAVDC may be configured in a plurality of arrangements. For example, in a compact arrangement, the UAVDC may comprise the at least one wing stowed against the fuselage and the at least one control surface stowed against the fuselage. In a deployed arrangement, the UAVDC may comprise the at least one wing deployed from the fuselage and the least one control surface deployed from the fuselage. In an expanded arrangement, the UAVDC may comprise the at least one wing telescoped to increase a wingspan of the deployed arrangement. The UAVDC may also comprise a foldable propeller blade with a locking mechanism. Foldable propeller blades may have a stowed configuration and a deployed configuration, and the foldable propeller blades may pivot about a hinge to move between configurations. A foldable propeller blade in a deployed configuration may experience forward folding motion due to forces acting upon it. A locking mechanism—for example, a ratchet and pawl—may lock a foldable propeller blade into a configuration. In a locked arrangement, a UAVDC may comprise at least one foldable propeller that locks into place to prevent forward folding tendency.

Tag-aware multipoint switching for conferencing

Conferencing methods and systems are disclosed wherein tags are associated with conferencing endpoints. The tags provide information enabling a decision-making entity to determine the preferability of one or more processing aspects of the endpoints. In a multipoint conference a tag can allow a decision making entity such as an MCU to determine the most appropriate mode for rendering video or other signals sent from a tagged endpoint. The tag itself can indicate the most appropriate mode or can contain information from which the decision-making entity can determine the most appropriate mode using an algorithm. A tag can be associated with an endpoint manually, for example based on a user's or controller's inputs concerning the endpoint. Alternatively, the tag can be assigned automatically based on automatically sensing one or more conditions at an endpoint or analyzing one or more parameters of a data stream transmitted from the endpoint.

Firefighting equipment

An articulated fire truck (T) has an extendible and retractable boom (11) mounted on the truck and extendible to a height above the ground where a fire is burning within a building (B). A drill assembly (1) is affixed to the end of the boom for drilling through a sidewall of the building into the building's interior. The drill assembly is maneuverable to drill straight through the sidewall as well as up and down and sideways so to provide an opening into the interior of the building sufficiently large that a nozzle attached to the drill assembly can readily spray water or a fire retardant material into the interior to extinguish the fire. The drill assembly has drill bits (100) located completely about the circumference of the drill assembly to facilitate up-and-down and side-to-side cutting to more quickly penetrate into the building's interior.
