The index-angle sets for each successive rotation can be provided by a complex rotor calculation unit, which may be collocated with the complex rotor computational unit, located in a controller such as a DSL optimizer, or located in any other suitable device or apparatus that has performed the QR factorization upon supplied matrix MIMO transfer functions for the vectored channel.

In one aspect of the invention, a method provides a calibrated critical-failure model for a printing process of a critical feature by virtue of a classification of an optical parameter space according to at least two print-criticality levels. Print failure of a respective critical feature is judged on the basis of a print-failure criterion for the critical feature. The respective print-criticality level is ascertained from test-print-simulation data at a sampling point of a process window for a given point in an optical-parameter space, and from a failure rule. An advantage achieved with the method is that it comprises ascertaining the predefined optical-parameter set from the test-print-simulation data at only one sampling point of the process window, which sampling point is identical for all test patterns. This saves processing time and processing complexity by reducing the number of ascertained optical-parameter sets and their processing in the subsequent scanning and classifying steps.

3D inspection of an object using x-rays

A method is presented for a 3D inspection of an object or bag in order to check for explosives or contraband. The method is applicable to Computed Tomography, Laminography or any other method that can be used to produce images of slices through the object. According to this method, it is not necessary to reconstruct the slice image with a high resolution as is required for visual display, but it is sufficient to reconstruct the image at only a sample or a set of points or pixels that are sparsely distributed within the reconstructed slice. The properties of the object are then analyzed only at these sparsely distributed pixels within the slice to make a determination for the presence or absence of explosives or contraband. This process of image reconstruction and analysis is repeated over several slices spaced through the volume of the object. In another embodiment of this invention, the set of points or pixels at which the image is reconstructed are offset spatially with respect to the set of pixels in the adjacent or neighboring slice. This invention greatly reduces the computational burden, hence simplifies the hardware and software design, speeds up the scanning process and allows for a more complete and uniform inspection of the entire volume of the object.

Embodiments of the present invention provide efficient greedy LLL algorithms that not only converge faster but also exhibit much lower complexity than the existing greedy LLL variants while similar error performance is maintained. First, a relaxed Lovász condition is designed for searching the candidate set of LLL iterations with column swap operations. This relaxation does not need size reduction operations so that it can save complexity compared to the existing greedy LLL algorithms. Further, a relaxed criterion of the decrease in LLL potential is designed to select the optimal one in the candidate set of LLL iterations, which also exhibits lower complexity than the existing greedy LLL algorithms. Furthermore, simulations show that the inventive algorithm needs less LLL iterations compared to the existing greedy LLL algorithms.
