Beacon signaling in a wireless system

InactiveUS7366200B2Improve and optimize system performanceIncrease throughput capabilityPower managementSynchronisation arrangementData transmissionWireless systems
A few high power tones used for synchronization and / or other purposes are transmitted in a FDM system during a period of time into a region, e.g., sector of a cell, e.g., a symbol transmission time period. During normal data transmission symbol periods signals are transmitted using at least 10 tones, e.g., per symbol time. Less than 5 high power signals are transmitted in a symbol time with at least 80% the maximum total transmitter power used for transmitting into said region being allocated to the high power signals where the maximum total transmitter power is determined from a period of time which may includes one or more data and / or high power tone transmission periods. When the high power tones are transmitted at most 20% of transmitter power used for transmitting into the region is available for transmitting other tones with the power normally being distributed among multiple tones. Often some tones which would be transmitted in a symbol time go unused during transmission of the high power signals.

Carton configured for automated loading

InactiveUS7066380B2Limit and avoid interferenceLimit orRacksClosuresEngineeringCarton
A carton having a door and a method of making a carton having a door, the carton being adapted for automated assembly and / or loading by reducing or eliminating interference between side panels of a door and product during loading and use of the door. In an aspect of the invention, the door side panels are slidable within a protected region formed between adjacent panels of the carton.

Adaptive Neighboring Cell Measurement Scaling for Wireless Devices

Adaptive neighboring cell measurement scaling by a wireless user equipment (UE) device. The UE may operate alternately in active and inactive states in a periodic manner according to DRX cycle timing for each of a plurality of DRX cycles. Paging messages may be checked for while in the active state during each DRX cycle. If a paging message is received, it may be decoded using a joint detection technique. The UE may adaptively determine whether or not to perform neighboring cell measurements during at least a subset of the DRX cycles, and perform neighboring cell measurements according to the adaptive determination. The adaptive determination may be based on one or more of joint detection of paging messages, one or more previous cell measurements, or an amount of motion of the UE.

Method and system using refractive beam mapper having square element profiles to reduce moire interference in a display system including multiple displays

ActiveUS20170131558A1Sacrificing rear display resolutionSacrificing contrastSteroscopic systemsDigital output to display deviceLight beamDisplay device
A multi-display system (e.g., a display including multiple display panels) includes at least first and second displays (e.g., display panels or display layers) arranged substantially parallel to each other in order to display three-dimensional (3D) features to a viewer(s). An optical element(s) such as at least a refractive beam mapper (RBM) is utilized in order to reduce moiré interference.

Book and document holding device

A device for holding a document or book, comprising, a base, a support surface member pivotally connected to the base and movable between a storage position and an operative position, means for temporarily securing the support surface member in the operative position, a writing ledge adapted to support the document or book positioned on the support surface member and means for temporarily attaching the writing ledge to the support surface member, wherein the writing ledge has a least one indentation therein adapted to allow a user of the device to position a hand or forearm within the indentation without interference with the writing ledge.

Folded lens system

A folded lens system that includes lenses with refractive power and two light folding elements such as prisms. A first lens on a first axis refracts light to a first folding element. The first folding element redirects the light from the first axis onto a second axis on which one or more lenses are arranged. The lenses on the second axis refract the light to a second folding element. The second folding element redirects the light onto a third axis on which a sensor is disposed. The lens system may include a front aperture. The sensor may be moved on the third axis to provide autofocusing, or alternatively the lens system may include one or more optical actuators that provide autofocusing. The lens system may have a low F-number (<=2.8), and may have a 35 mm equivalent focal length in the medium to long telephoto range.
