Multi-party conversation analyzer & logger

A multi-party conversation analyzer and logger uses a variety of techniques including spectrographic voice analysis, absolute loudness measurements, directional microphones, and telephonic directional separation to determine the number of parties who take part in a conversation, and segment the conversation by speaking party. In one aspect, the invention monitors telephone conversations in real time to detect conditions of interest (for instance, calls to non-allowed parties or calls of a prohibited nature from prison inmates). In another aspect, automated prosody measurement algorithms are used in conjunction with speaker segmentation to extract emotional content of the speech of participants within a particular conversation, and speaker interactions and emotions are displayed in graphical form. A conversation database is generated which contains conversation recordings, and derived data such as transcription text, derived emotions, alert conditions, and correctness probabilities associated with derived data. Investigative tools allow flexible queries of the conversation database.

Touch Screen Element

A capacitive two-dimensional (2D) touch panel has three sets of interleaved electrodes. A first set of electrodes is spaced apart along the y-direction and these are galvanically connected to each other by a resistive strip connected at either end to a connection line. A second set of electrodes is also arrayed along the y-direction and these are galvanically connected to each other via a notionally non-resistive first connection. A third set of electrodes is also arrayed along the y-direction and these are galvanically connected to each other via a notionally non-resistive second connection. The second and third sets of electrodes are interleaved without galvanic cross-conduction to provide a gradient along the x-direction to resolve touch position in the x-direction. The first set of electrodes resolves touch position along the y-direction. Passive or active capacitive sensing techniques may be used to acquire the position information from the 2D touch panel.

Leakage current detection interrupter extension cord with cord diagnostics

In the present invention the basic detection and interruption components of an Immersion Detection Circuit Interrupter (IDCI), in combination with the line, neutral and shield conductors of an extension or appliance cord provides a new improved type of detector, a Leakage Current Detector Interrupter (LCDI) which interrupts current to a load when current leakage is detected between the line or neutral conductors of the cord and the shield conductor. The new improved LCDI detector provides, either singularly or in combination, the following advantages: Prevents the LCDI from being reset should the device become inoperative (reset lockout); Provides an indication of the integrity of the shield in the extension or appliance cord; Tests the integrity of the shield within the extension or appliance cord, in addition to testing the functionality of the LCDI; Interrupts current to the load if an electrical connection is detected between the shield and neutral, or the shield and ground, in addition to the existing detection of leakage current from the phase conductor; Allows the LCDI to trip during an open neutral condition by utilizing the ground connection as a return wire for the trip coil; and / or Provides immersion detection at the receptacle end of the extension cord in addition to protection from leakage faults.

Node controller first failure error management for a distributed system

A distributed system provides error handling wherein the system includes multiple nodes, each node being coupled to multiple node controllers for control redundancy. Multiple system controllers couple to the node controllers via a network bus. A particular node controller may detect an error of that particular node controller. The particular node controller may store error information relating to the detected error in respective nonvolatile memory stores in the system controllers and node controllers according to a particular priority order. In accordance with the particular priority order, for example, the particular node controller may first attempt to store the error information to a primary system controller memory store, then to a secondary system controller memory store, and then to sibling and non-sibling node controller memory stores. The primary system controller organizes available error information for use by system administrators and other resources of the distributed system.

Methods and systems for non-cooperative automatic security screening in crowded areas

The present invention is a multi-threat detection method and system for high-traffic areas, such as airports, other mass-transit hubs, malls, symposiums, and the like. The detection methodology comprises a set of detection blocks, each performing different functions, and taking the information resulting from each block and entering it into one or more detection algorithms. The blocks comprise microwave detectors, co-polarization versus cross-polarization processors, magnetometers, and cameras (optional). The values calculated by the blocks are entered into machine learning algorithms which detect a threat if a threshold value is met. The detection occurs at a distance and the alarm may be silent, such that authorities are able to address threats without the target being aware. The alarm is also able to differentiate among varying threats based on the values calculated. No shadowing problems exist, and thus several targets may be monitored simultaneously without slowing down the speed of processing.

Detection of encephalopathy

The invention relates to detection of encephalopathy based on EEG signal data obtained from a patient. A first signal component is derived from the EEG signal data, the first signal component representing low frequencies of the EEG signal data. A first parameter indicative of disorder in the first signal component and a second parameter indicative of disorder in EEG signal data representing a first frequency band are then computed, wherein the first frequency band includes higher frequencies than said low frequencies. An indicator of encephalopathy is then determined based on the first parameter and the second parameter, the indicator of encephalopathy being indicative of encephalopathy.

Method for determination of discontinuous transmission, frame erasure, and rate

This invention enables determining whether a received frame is an erasure, a DTX mode frame or a CONT mode frame, using a metric m derived from the log likelihood ratio (LLR). The new metric is obtained by calculating the mean for the LLRs for a frame; a threshold T for this metric is also established. A received frame is declared a CONT frame if the CRC value indicates a successfully recovered frame, and m>T. A received frame is a DTX frame if m<T. Finally, a frame is declared an erasure if the CRC value indicates a failed frame, and m>T. The mean absolute LLR may also be used for determining the transmission rate of the system. In this case, a voice frame is decoded for all rates available; the transmission rate is that which corresponds to a passed CRC and has the highest m.

The scour monitoring system may be position adjacent to a structure to be monitored for bridge scouring. Each of the segments may provide a water-swellable material positioned near or in contact with a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) cable. If water penetrates a segment, the water-swellable material may expand to deform the FBG cable. The wavelength of the FBG cable may be monitored periodically for changes, thereby providing moisture detection when a change in wavelength is detected.

Randomizer systems for producing multiple-symbol randomizing sequences

A system that produces one or more non-repeating randomizer sequences of up to 2m-1 or more m-bit symbols includes a randomizer circuit that is set up in accordance with a polynomial with primitive elements of GF(2m) as coefficients. The system combines the randomizer sequence with all the symbols of ECC code words that are encoded using a BCH code over GF(2m) to produce a randomized code word. The particular primitive elements used and / or an initial state of one or more registers in the system specifies the particular sequence produced by the system. The initial state of each of the one or more registers is a selected one of the 2m-1 elements of GF(2m), and thus, 2m-1 different sequences may be produced by selecting a different initial state for a given one of the registers. If the coefficients are also selected from, for example, a set of “p” possible values, the system produces p*(2m-1) different sequences. The system may thus be used to encrypt the ECC code word by associating the code word with a particular selected initial state and / or coefficient. The coefficients may be selected to produce randomizer sequences that are predetermined minimum distances away from both the ECC code words.

System and Method for Detecting Corrosion Pitting in Gas Turbines

Methods and apparatuses for detecting corrosion in one or more blades of a gas turbine system includes a detection head having a shape that conforms to a surface geometry of a filet section of a gas turbine blade, whereby the detection head is operable to move along the axial length of the filet section for detecting corrosion pitting. At least one coil device located within the detection head induces a first magnetic field within an area of the filet in contact with the detection head. A receiver device is adapted to detect a signal corresponding to a second magnetic field received from the area of the filet exposed to the first magnetic field, where the second magnetic field is generated by induced currents in the area by the first magnetic field. A signal processing device then processes the detected signal for correlating a corresponding amplitude of the detected signal with the presence of corrosion pitting in the area such that the presence of corrosion pitting is determined without any casing disassembly of the gas turbine system.
