IV catheter introducer with retractable needle

An IV catheter introducer having a retractable needle holder and a tubular plunger that are held by a detent structure in a preferred positional relationship prior to and during insertion of the catheter. Following insertion, the plunger is pushed past the detent structure, permitting a compressed spring to force the needle holder upwardly into the plunger. A vented end cap in the plunger permits rapid venting of air displaced during retraction of the needle holder. The needle holder includes a flash chamber that is easily viewable through a clear plastic housing. Wings are provided on the housing to facililate one-handed operation of the device. A method for assembling the subject catheter introducer is also disclosed.

Video-based detection and recognition system and method of vehicles

The invention discloses a video-based detection and recognition system and a method of vehicles. The system comprises a target characteristic database module, a moving target detection module and a vehicle recognition module. A vehicle sample target characteristic database is built to store data by virtue of the target characteristic database module. After a moving target zone is detected by the moving target detection module, the vehicle recognition module builds a search window and recognizes vehicles. The system and the method resolve the technical problems of poor vehicle distinguishing capability and low distinguishing accuracy of the video-based vehicle detection under the condition of obvious background movement, vehicle adhesion, vehicle occlusion and the like in the prior art. The video-based detection and recognition system and the method of the vehicles have the advantages of excellent vehicle distinguishing capability and high accuracy.

Blood treatment catheter and method

Disclosed are various embodiments of a hemo-dialysis catheter in which the aspirating port at the end of the aspirating tube is distal of the infusion port or ports at the end of the infusion lumen. The infusion port or ports are arranged circumferentially so that the infused filtered blood is a substantially 360° jet of fluid with a substantial radial component. This jet of fluid serves to abrade the occlusive material that is composed of fibrin and other components that grows down along the outer wall of the catheter that would otherwise tend to block off the ports. Stopping occlusion growth at the zone of the infusion ports prevents further growth distally to the aspirating port and protects the aspirating port from being blocked by the growth of occlusion.

3 menu display

A device and method of rendering visual information combine image information like video and secondary image information, like graphics. The image information and the secondary image information are processed for generating output information to be rendered in a three-dimensional space. The output information is arranged for display on a 3D stereoscopic display having a true display depth range (44). The processing includes detecting an image depth range of the image information, and detecting a secondary depth range of the secondary visual information. In the display depth range (44), a first sub-range (41) and second sub-range (43) are determined, which first sub-range and second sub-range are non-overlapping. The image depth range is accommodated in the first sub-range and the secondary depth range is accommodated in the second sub-range. Advantageously graphics and video are displayed in true 3D without video objects occluding graphical objects.

Multi-finger mouse emulation

One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for emulating left, right, and center mouse button functionality for a multi-touch input device to provide end-users with full mouse functionality. Various finger to mouse button mapping techniques are used to specify the left, right or middle mouse buttons. A single finger is used for tracking while a second finger or thumb is used to activate or deactivate one of the mouse buttons. Multi-finger mouse emulation enables more precise cursor control, while avoiding occlusion of the cursor and end-user fatigue, thereby improving the overall end-user experience.
