An endoluminal prosthesis is provided for restricting fluid flow in a lumen. The endoluminal prosthesis has a tubular graft having a flexible body with at least one stent coupled thereto. The endoluminal prosthesis also includes a prosthetic valve coupled to the inside the tubular graft. In one embodiment of the present inventions, an exhaust outlet in a vacuum processing chamber includes a nonsealing flow restrictor which can facilitate rapid opening and closing of the flow restrictor in some applications. Because the flow restrictor is a nonsealing flow restrictor, the conductance of the flow restrictor in the closed position may not be zero. However, the flow restrictor can restrict the flow of an exhaust gas from the chamber to permit the retention of sufficient processing gas in the chamber to deposit a film on the substrate or otherwise react with the substrate. After a film has been deposited, typically in a thin atomic layer, the exhaust flow restrictor may be opened such that the flow restrictor conductance is significantly increased to a second, higher flow rate to facilitate exhausting residue gas from the chamber. The nonsealing flow restrictor may be closed again to deposit a second layer, typically of a different material onto the substrate. The nonsealing flow restrictor may be rapidly opened and closed to deposit alternating layers of a variety of materials onto the substrate.

A method of dispensing a therapeutic fluid from a line includes providing an inlet line connectable to an upstream fluid source. The inlet line is in downstream fluid communication with a pumping chamber. The pumping chamber has a pump outlet. The method also includes actuating a force application assembly so as to restrict retrograde flow of fluid through the inlet while pressurizing the pumping chamber to urge flow through the pump outlet. A corresponding system employs the method.

A selectively controllable electromagnetic shield having an electromagnetic shielding material and a mechanism for selectively generating an aperture in the shield. The mechanism for selectively generating an aperture may be a magnetic field source that generates a magnetic field of sufficient strength to substantially saturate all or a portion of the shielding material. For example, a permanent magnet or DC electromagnet may be used to selectively saturate the shield. In its un-saturated state, the magnetic shield has a high permeability and functions as a flux path for the magnetic field. Once saturated, the permeability of the shield is substantially reduced so that the magnetic field lines are no longer drawn into the shield to the same degree. As a result, once saturated, a substantially greater amount of the electromagnetic field may flow through or around the shield in the saturated region.

The frozen barrier may inhibit fluid from entering into the treatment area. The frozen barrier may also inhibit migration of contamination out of the treatment area. Freeze wells may be activated in advance of soil remediation so that a frozen barrier is formed when soil remediation is begun. Heaters of a thermal soil remediation system may be may be placed close to the frozen barrier without the barrier being broken through during remediation.

A syringe-like device having a chamber in which a pressurizing piston reciprocates. The chamber is connected on one end to a vial containing a drug to be delivered to an eye and on the other end to a needle or cannula for administering the drug to an eye. Pulling proximally backwards on the piston creates a vacuum in the chamber and draws the drug out of the vial. Upon release of the piston, a spring pushes the piston forward, pressurizing the chamber and forcing the drug out of the cannula. A one-way valve prevents the drug from being expelled back into the vial. A pinch valve between the chamber and the cannula allows the flow of the drug out of the cannula to be stopped. The flow rate of the drug out of the cannula can be controlled by varying the size of the chamber, piston and spring.

A respirator 10 that has a mask body 14 and a malleable nose clip 12. The mask body 14 is adapted to fit at least over the nose and mouth of a person to define an interior gas space that is separate from the exterior gas space. The mask body 14 has the nose clip 12 secured to it and can include at least one layer of filter media 20. The malleable nose clip 12 comprises a semi-crystalline polymeric material that has an integrated diffraction intensity ratio of at least about 2.0. The nose clip 12 can be deformed into a desired configuration that enables the mask body 14 to maintain a snug fit over a person's nose when the respirator is worn for extended time periods. Because the nose clip 12 does not need to contain metal, the whole respirator 10 can be easily processed as waste in an incinerator when its service has ended.

A medical implant (20) includes first and second ring members (22,24), each including a resilient framework (26) having a generally cylindrical form. Apparatuses for restricting fluid flow through a well conduit comprise a housing having a longitudinal bore and a collapsible seat disposed within the bore. The seat has a first position defining a first seat inner diameter when the apparatus is in the run-in position and a second position defining a second seat inner diameter when the apparatus is in the set position. The first seat inner diameter is greater than the second seat inner diameter. A plug element is adapted to be disposed into the bore and landed on the seat to move the seat from the first position to the second position. While in the second position, the seat restricts fluid flow through the bore and provides additional support to the plug member landed on the seat.
