A near-eye display projects virtual images from an image generator to an eyebox within which the virtual images can be seen by a viewer. A first optical path conveys image-bearing light from the image generator to a selectively reflective powered optic and a second optical path conveys the image-bearing light along a line of sight from the selectively reflective powered optic to the eyebox. First and second selectively reflective surfaces fold the first optical path with respect to the second optical path to locate the image generator out of the line of sight to the eyebox. The image generator is effectively inclined to the line of sight to the eyebox for reducing a thickness of the near-eye display. The selectively reflective powered optic is oriented normal to local overlapping portions of the first and second optical paths at the selectively reflective powered optic.

A method and apparatus are provided for timed estimation-based positioning of a user equipment in LTE systems. The method includes estimating, by a mobile node, a plurality of reference signal time differences (RSTD) between the mobile node and a network node. The plurality of RSTD estimates define a first correlator. The method further includes determining a second correlator of RSTD estimates, and defining the second correlator with the first correlator based on a mean of the plurality of RSTD estimates. Further, the method includes determining a distribution of the plurality of RSTD estimates, and grouping clusters of RSTD estimates in the distribution. Additionally, the method includes selecting a cluster from the clusters of RSTD estimates. The cluster includes RSTD estimates closest to a center of the second correlator. The cluster is transmitted, by the mobile node, to the network node for positioning the mobile node in a communications network.

Systems and methods are provided for enabling different “bundling” methods for downlink transmissions and provide different interpretations of the acknowledgement / negative-acknowledgement bit. A user equipment is configured so that it commonly acknowledges all downlink transmission time intervals within a bundle so that if one packet is determined to be erroneous, all packets in that bundle will be retransmitted. Additionally, the systems and methods are implemented by allowing an interpretation to be applied to the uplink acknowledgement / negative-acknowledgement field such that the user equipment is able to divide bundled downlink packets into smaller windows in Long Term Evolution (LTE) Release 8 time division duplex (TDD) mode. A method for reducing the resolution of a digital-to-analog converter in a multi-bit sigma-delta ADC is described. With the addition of digital sigma-delta modulators in the feedback path of a sigma-delta ADC, the truncation errors between the digital word output of the multi-bit sigma-delta ADC to the DAC input can be shaped to higher order than that of the quantization error. Thus, the DAC resolution can be reduced and the implementation of DEM for multi-bit DAC can be avoided. A preferred embodiment comprises selecting an outermost feedback loop in a sigma-delta ADC that has not been replaced and replacing it with a circuit with an equivalent transfer function. The circuit can be further enhanced with an additional term if the order of the noise shaping of the circuit is less than the order of the noise shaping of the sigma-delta ADC.

The systems and methods define a mapping surface at a distance from the image source and display that approximates the environment within the field of view of the image source. The system methods define a model that relates the different geometries of the image source, display, and mapping surface to each other. Using the model and the mapping surface, the systems and methods tile images from the image source, correlate the images to the display, and display the images. In instants where two image sources have overlapping fields of view on the mapping surface, the systems and methods overlap and stitch the images to form a mosaic image. If two overlapping image sources each have images with unique characteristics, the systems and methods fuse the images into a composite image.
