Method for improving mean time to data loss (MTDL) in a fixed content distributed data storage

An archival storage cluster of preferably symmetric nodes includes a data protection management system that periodically organizes the then-available nodes into one or more protection sets, with each set comprising a set of n nodes, where “n” refers to a configurable “data protection level” (DPL). At the time of its creation, a given protection set is closed in the sense that each then available node is a member of one, and only one, protection set. When an object is to be stored within the archive, the data protection management system stores the object in a given node of a given protection set and then constrains the distribution of copies of that object to other nodes within the given protection set. As a consequence, all DPL copies of an object are all stored within the same protection set, and only that protection set. This scheme significantly improves MTDL for the cluster as a whole, as the data can only be lost if multiple failures occur within nodes of a given protection set. This is far more unlikely than failures occurring across any random distribution of nodes within the cluster.

Digital integrated circuit chip testing system

The invention provides a test pattern-based testing system for realizing a functional test on a digital integrated circuit. The functional test is mainly used for testing logical functions of a chip under a certain timing sequence, and a basic principle is that the chip is excited by means of test patterns and whether the response of the chip is consistent with expected response is observed. The functional test can cover failure models of extremely high proportion logic circuits. A debugging technology supported one-step testing system comprises two parts, namely test pattern file conversion software applied to a personal computer (PC) and a digital integrated circuit chip testing machine, wherein the digital integrated circuit chip testing machine consists of architectures of a central processing unit (CPU) and a field programmable gate array (FPGA); the CPU is used for storing and converting pattern files, controlling the testing process, communicating with a host, and the like. A pattern controlling logic circuit is realized by an FPGA, the waveform generation, the control of Pattern random access memory (RAM) and sampling control are finished through the FPGA, and a drive and a comparator are controlled so as to test and control a tested object.

Circuit and method for resisting SEU of SRAM FPGA device

The invention belongs to the technical field of field programmable gate array (FPGA), and particularly relates to a circuit and a method having the function of resisting the single event upset (SEU) effect for an SRAM FPGA device. The SEU-resisting circuit comprises a read-back circuit, a fine-grained refresh circuit and a two-dimensional CRC calibration circuit. A bus state machine controls the read-back circuit to read information stored in a programming point in a read-back register in the read-back circuit, and then, the two-dimensional CRC calibration circuit calibrates the information and writes the address of the programming point generating the SEU effect in an SEU register; and an internal processor generates a fine-grained refreshing bit stream via the fine-grained refresh circuit based on the output of the SEU register, and the refreshing bit stream is written in an internal programming point of the FPGA chip via a self-configuration interface. The programming point generating the SEU error in the FPGA is refreshed again, thereby realizing the SEU-resistant function. Meanwhile, the invention also reduces the time and power consumption for reconstructing the FPGA after the SEU generation.

Synchronizer latch circuit that facilitates resolving metastability

ActiveUS20130135017A1Facilitates resolving metastability issueRapidly resolving metastabilityPulse automatic controlElectric pulse generatorNetwork connectionInput control
The disclosed embodiments provide a synchronizer latch circuit that facilitates resolving metastability issues. This synchronizer latch circuit includes a set of lightly loaded, cross-coupled transistors that form a metastable resolving and state-holding element that is coupled to two outputs. An incoming synchronization signal creates a voltage difference between the two outputs, but does not directly force a state change for the outputs. Instead, the data and clock inputs control transistors that allow neighboring power sources and / or ground network connections to weakly influence the outputs. The cross-coupled transistors then amplify the resulting voltage difference to generate valid output voltages, even when the data input and clock signal are received at roughly the same time. Thus, the synchronizer latch circuit facilitates rapidly resolving metastability and improving synchronizer performance.

Open Frame Electronic Chassis For Enclosed Modules

An open frame chassis has a top opening and a bottom opening permitting ambient air flow there through. A plurality of modules, each enclosing electrical components which are in thermal contact with a heat sink area of their corresponding module, and each of which can be inserted to an inserted position in the open frame chassis. When the modules are inserted into the open frame chassis, ambient air may flow from the bottom opening of the chassis across the heat sink area of each module to the top opening in order to passively cool the modules and the electrical components enclosed therein. The heat sink area has fins which are separated by a distance of 9 mm to 12 mm and have a height 10 mm to 20 mm. Key pins are associated with the electrical connectors of the chassis to guide the modules into place and prevent incorrect insertion of a different type of electrical module not corresponding to the electrical connection of the chassis for that slot. Guide pins are present on the corners of the modules to mate with guide holes in the chassis to secure the module to the open frame chassis and decrease vibration. Both sides of the chassis have side openings through which the fins of the modules inserted into the end slots of the chassis may be exposed. The power modules are inserted into the end slots. The chassis has an inverted connection at one end slot to accommodate identical power modules at both end slots such that the heat sink area always faces a side opening in the open frame chassis.

Automated emergency power supply test with variable, priority-based transfer times

An automated emergency power supply system (EPSS) and testing solution that records generator load values and engine exhaust temperature values to evaluate whether an EPSS test satisfies legislated test criteria. The EPSS test is carried out under software control, which initiates a test by instructing an automatic transfer switch (ATS) to change its status to a test status, causing the essential loads to be powered by a generator instead of a main utility power source. Power monitors record the ATS and generator status during the test as well as electrical parameter data from the ATS and generator and exhaust temperature data and other engine parameter data from the generator. When the test is concluded, the ATS is instructed to return the status to normal so that power delivery is resumed from the main power source. The electrical and engine parameter data is analyzed and compared against legislated test criteria to determine a pass / fail result of the EPSS test.
